...The old lady from the bakery. "Oh hello!" Said Luka, "shouldn't you be at the bakery?"
"I wasn't feeling well, so my son took over for me." Said the old lady.
"You're sick?" Asked Luka.
"Very. I need the medicine to cure me, yet I'm very poor with only bread making for a living. The medicine is very expensive." Said the old lady. "Care to come in?"
"Okay..." Luka paused not knowing the old woman's name.
"Kotoko." She said.
Luka entered Kotoko's house and it was old and wearing down a bit. "How about you sit down and rest." Said Luka.
Kotoko sat down on an ebony chair and rested. Luka looked through the house and saw many paintings, and the house creaked a little bit as she walked. While walking, she saw a wooden box and it seemed to be the only one in sight. She took a peek and saw black and purple clothing. She took the box and went to Kotoko again and she asked, "Kotoko, what's in this box?"
She smiled and said, "That's my ballgown from when I was younger! I was about your age when I wore it. I went to the ball in that gown and that was when I met the love of my life!"
She pointed to a painting of a man above the fireplace and said sympathetically, "Unfortunetly, he died five years ago."
"I'm sorry to hear." Said Luka sadly.
"Pull out the dress! I want to see it again!" Said Kotoko with weak eagerness.
Luka pulled ou the dress, and it was the most gorgeous dress that Luka's ever seen!
A/n: The dress is from the song Sand play of the singing Dragon sung by Kaito, Gakupo and Luka.
"It's so beautiful!" Said Luka, "I wish I could go to the ball in something like this!"
"You can have it if you like!" Said Kotoko.
"I couldn't possibly!" Exclaimed Luka, "This dress must he very expensive! If you sell it, you may get enough money to buy the medicine you need!"
"I insist dear!" She said.
"I'll pass, sorry. It's not like I'm gonna go to the ball anyway." Sighed Luka.
She carefully put the dress back in the box and set it off to the side. "I think I must be going. I hope you get better soon!" Said Luka. "I live over in the house not far from yours. The one with purple flowers growing!"
She walked out of the house and continued with her walk. Kotoko looked at the box containing the gown and sighed. She took a piece of parchment and wrote down some notes.

Three weeks of preparations went by, and the ball was in one day. "Milord," said Len, "I wish you good fortune tomorrow night."
"Thank you," said Gakupo, "though it may not happen this year, or ever."
"I'm sure you'll find someone." Said Len.
"Be sure to keep yourself, and your sister hidden from the guests. If you must enter anyway, put these on." Said Gakupo, throwing two black wigs at Len.
"Thank you milord." Said Len.
"I know you may be out there somewhere." Muttered Gakupo.

Luka was sighing with Miku. The ball was the next day, and they couldn't go. There was a knock at the door, and Meiko went to answer it. She opened the door and saw a tall young man with brown hair. "Are you Megurine Luka?" He asked.
"Luka!" Shouted Meiko, "Someone is here to see you!"
Luka ran to the front door and saw the tall man. "Is there something you want?" She asked.
"I regret to inform you that my mother, Kotoko has died." He said sadly.
"She died?!" Cried Luka.
"She wanted me to give you something." He said.
He grabbed a box and handed it to her. He then walked away quietly. Luka opened the box and Miku and Meiko went to see what it was. Luka saw what it was, and gasped. The dress. "She shouldn't have!" Cried Luka.
"Wow! That dress is beautiful!" Gasped Miku. "Maybe now you can go to the ball!"
"Oh no you're not!" Said Meiko, "You may have a dress now, but you're still forbidden from going to the ball!"
"Why?" Asked Luka.
"You might get taken by the wrong guy, maybe the Prince is the wrong guy!" Said Meiko.
"I'm not in it for the marriage," said Luka, "I want to see what these royal balls are like!"
"Nothing but snobby women in tight dresses!" Sneered Meiko.
"How do you know? You've never been to the ball!" Said Luka.
"I know, and now you do!" Shouted Meiko.
Meiko walked away, but Luka wasn't ready to give up. "I have a plan." Whispered Miku to Luka.
Miku filled Luka in on details.
The next day was the night of the ball. Miku secretly took the dress and Luka was going to Miku's house for a little hangout, but secretly, Miku was helping Luka with the ball. "I'm going to Miku's!" Called Luka.
"Okay, but don't go to the ball tonight! I'll be at the bar if you need me!" Called Meiko.
Luka went straight to Miku's house and Miku immedietly got Luka ready. After what felt like forever, Luka was in her dress and ready to go. She also decided to take a masquerade mask with her as well.
"You look so pretty Luka!" Said Miku happily. "Now the carriage is coming any minute now."
"If I'm not back after midnight, come find me." Said Luka, "There might be creeps in the castle."
"You're not worried about what Meiko said, are you?" Asked Miku.
"No," said Luka, "Maybe, I don't know."
A vicious neigh was heard from outside. "The carriage!" Gasped Miku. "Have fun and be careful!"
Luka went out the door, and there was a black and purple carriage and it was pulled by a black horse. A man with black hair and red clothes opened the carriage door for Luka and thought to himself, "She's different. I wonder how Lord Gakupo will react to this one."
The carriage went off, and headed for the castle.
