Chapter 2

Sophia entered her room sighing, thinking of her conversation with her mother. Was what she said the right thing? Then why does she feel so bad?

'Me and a poor boy? Never in a million years! '

Yeah, something is definitely wrong here. Sophia sat down on her bed and thought back to the days were they used to be a normal family. Normal people with normal lives. No bodyguards, no magazines with their pictures splashed on the front page. Back when fame and money didn't get to her mother's head. Or even to Sophia's. Right now, she wishes everything was back to normal.

Okay, she'll admit that she likes being rich, and who wouldn't? Money can buy you anything in this world right?

Suddenly, the room's door flew opened and a pretty blonde stood there grinning, "I'm back, bitches!" She nearly screamed.

"Tess! You're back!" Sophia squealed, taking her best friend into a bone-crushing hug. "Oh god, I missed you so much! "

Teresa laughed happily. "I missed you too, Soph." Sophia released her and stood there grinning at her best friend, tears of happiness were welling up in her eyes. "No Soph, it's not the time to get so emotional. I know I'm awesome, I'd miss myself too." Sophia laughed at her best friend's goofiness. Gosh, she missed her so much.

"So, how was your vacation in Rome?" Teresa and Sophia were sitting on the swing at their favourite park, the park where they both first met. Sophia still remembers twelve years ago, when she was sitting on a swing alone crying softly and then Tessa came and told her not to cry and that she wants to be her friend. Since then, they hung out alot and became like sisters. And luckily when Sophia's parents sent her to a private school and prevented her from communicating with middle-class people, Teresa's parents did the same so they weren't separated.

"Oh, my god Sophia!" Tess squealed. "I had like the best vacation in my entire life! Rome is a very beautiful city."

"Met any cute guys?" Sophia winked at her best friend. Tess had a way with guys, and Sophia knew her best friend too well.

"You can't imagine how cute Italian guys are." She sighed dreamley. "What about you, there's a lot of beach babes here, you know."

"No I didn't meet anybody but there's some good news!" She said happily. "Daniel broke up with me."

Teresa have never heard better news than this. She hated Daniel with a passion. She wanted to slap Sophia's mother for setting him up with Soph because she knew he's a player, and he simply wasn't good for her.

"This is awesome! Now it's time to plan his death."

Sophia laughed. "No need for this Tess, it feels good to be free."

"Sophia!"

"Yeah?"

"Come down here!"

Sophia was lying on her bed, stuffing her face in icecream and cookies while watching romantic movies. Friday was her movie night. In other words, a lazy night.

"Coming!" She sighed, putting the spoon in the icecream bowl and went downstairs.

"Tomorrow there's a- oh my god Sophia is that how a young rich lady looks like?!" Sophia's mom nearly fainted. Her daughter really did look like hell. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun, icecream spilled on her pajamas and her eyes were dead. This is not how everyone expect Nicole Hastings daughter to look like.

Sophia looked down at herself and smirked. She liked pissing her mother off. "You like it mom? Okay then, I'll make sure I look like this everyday." She smiled sweetly at her.

Nicole was about to explode. How could her daughter talk to her like that? She must tell her husband to put an end to this because their daughter's attitude is not acceptable.

She glared at Sophia but said calmly, "Tomorrow there's a masquerade ball for charity and you're going."

"But mom I-"

"No protests. The dress you're wearing tomorrow is in your closet."

"You didn't even hear what I'd say!" Sophia shouted. This is enough. Her mother has been very controllable lately and she's tired of this.

"I don't have to. I said what I wanted to say, goodnight Sophia. Sleep well so you won't look like a homeless person. That would ruin our reputation." Nicole smiled tightly at Sophia and left.

Sophia went back to her room and slammed the door angrily. Who does her mother think she is? She exceeded all her limits in controlling her life. Sophia didn't think fame and money would get into her mother's head like this.

One day she'll get her mother back, and she'll make sure of this.
