Cold Moon

chapter 2

     

     Selina woke up the next day with dried up tears on her face. She wanted last night to be dream so bad.

     She walked to the kitchen where was Alice. "Good morning Selina" she greeted her passing plate of toasts. Selina picked up the toast but immediately dropped it back on the plate.

     "Are you okay?" Alice asked Selina and checked her forehead for a fever.
Selina shook her hand away. " yes.. i mean no.  Ugh. I mean i don't know." She said and grabbed her head in her hands.

     "Whats the matter darling?" Alice questioned. Selina knew that if there is one person she can trust its her grandmother. Alice has always been strong women and to prove that fact Alice has never cried in front of Selina.

     " i think i have gone mad. I'm crazy" Selina cried out.

     Alice took Selinas hands in hers "crazy people don't know the're crazy. Now tell me what is so bad in that smart head of yours" she shoot her the kind of smile that could lit up whole the room making Selina smile too.

    Clearing her throat Selina spoke "last night. Some guy attacked me. " She continued biting her lip. "He said that his name is Raphael and that he is gonna come after me. I'm scarred grandma"

     Alice hugged Selina "it's just some cruel joke. Don't think about it that much"

     Alice knew that it was a lie. " now go have some more rest. Okay? No school for you today" Selina nodded her head and did as told.

     When made sure Selina is in her room. Alice called Jerome "i have an emergency. Where can we meet?" Alice demanded.

     Jerome agreed to meet her because she wouldn't have called if it wasn't important. And Alice has always been independent.

    After a fifteen minute drive Alice stopped at an old wooden house. This was the place where her and Jerome used to live together. Alice stepped inside and saw him standing with his back facing her. "Jerome" she asked.
"Long time no see Alice Wayland" he said and turned around.

"Yes indeed. Twenty years is a long time." She spat back angry.

    "Lets not waste time here. What is the one thing that finally made you drop your independence. " he asked.

     "Not what. but who." She said. "Raphael." Almost too disgusted to say his name.

     "Ahh so you have heard." He clapped his hands together. "I can't bring him back. If that's what you want" he said and took a seat at the sofa "he had his chance and he blew it. The guards won't let him back that easy."

     " It was never easy. You did it once. Why not do it again?" Alice said in a demanding tone.

     "I can't" he said and got up. "Do you think i would let him destroy everything i have worked so hard to keep safe if i had the chance not to?." He screamed.

     "What does he want.?" Alice asked.

     " he wants an entry to heaven.  The guards ordered him to bring them the moon goddess crystal heart ." He continued letting out a laugh "and only way to get it is trough moon child. Which you are hiding." He laughed "i warned you that hiding Selinas ability's will bring her more harm that safety. I hope you are ready to deal with the consequences." Jerome left the house leaving Alice alone. She destroyed one think she swore to protect with her life. She destroyed Selina by lying.

     Alice drove back home thinking how will she tell Selina the truth. 'Will she hate me for not telling the truth?' She thought. 

     Selina couldn't sleep anymore she saw that Alice drove somewhere. Maybe to sign her up for psychiatrist . She thought.

     She tried to convince herself that it was dream. But the more she tried the  more it got clearer. The man standing in the alley. His red eyes. Only thinking about it made Selina shiver.  'I'm gonna come to get you' Selina recalled his words. What if it wasn't just a joke.

     Selina was pleased that she could stay home today but it was unnatural for Alice to let her skip. She had always cared a lot about Selinas  education and future.

     Hearing Alice's car pulling up Selina went downstairs to greet her.

     Alice walked in looking pale, like she had just seen a ghost. "Grandma, are you okay? You look sick." Selina asked worried. Because Alice almost never got sick. She always drank her weed teas she said that's what keeps her in shape.

     "Oh don't worried honey. I just need to rest" Alice said not even looking in Selinas eyes.

     The rest of the day went on and Alice stayed in her room resting. Selina checked on her now and then. Selina knew that something was wrong. Alice was always this bubbly, smiling person but now she looked almost dead inside. Her heart was hurting. She tried to save Selina whole her life. But now Raphael will take her, he needs her if he want back to heaven. Selina is so inexperienced, she doesn't even know about world i hid her from. Her parents made Alice promise that whatever she does to let her live normal life. She knew that there was no point in hiding from him. He already found her. If he has the infinity stone he will know where we are, and there is no way in breaking the infinity spell.
