It was homecoming week and Grant had decided to ask me to go. I mean, the way he asked me who could say no?

He came to my house and when I opened the door he had balloons saying homecoming which he obviously wrote due to the horrid handwriting, a card which of asking me to go to homecoming, and a cake. My favorite flavors, red velvet cake and vanilla frosting. He wrote "Nicole, go to homecoming with me or I'll explole" He wrote 'explole'  as a way to try to actually rhyme something with my name, the effort was cute.

I jumped into his arms and said, "Yes, yes yes!  A hundred times yes!"  I kissed him lightly and felt the blood rush to my cheeks.

Is this what love feels like?

We color coordinated and decided on light blue, his favorite color and one I was very fond of.

I picked out the perfect dress whist dress shopping with Kathy. It was a sky blue dress, hitting a few inches above my knees, and a sweetheart top, only one shouldered.

Kathy was going to homecoming with Keith Carmen. He was the quarterback on the football team, she has always thought he was hot, and when he had asked her to homecoming  she literally screamed.

I decided not to show Grant my dress until he picked me up that night, seeming that it was bad luck.

On the way home from dress shopping Kathy seemed a lot more enthusiastic unlike normal. I liked seeing her happy, she wasn't that happy since her dad died, I'm glad she's finding joy in something.

When I got home I said bye to Kathy and headed up into my room, hanging the dress up in my closet and laying down on my bed.

I called Grant and we talked on the phone for the rest of the night until he passed out at 1 am.

These were the kinds of nights I loved, when we just talked absentmindedly talked about nothing and everything all at once.

Grant and I were unofficially dating. He is my boyfriend. I am his girlfriend. And that's how it was going to be.
