I shuddered at the mention of the undead. I hate the undead they smell, they look horrid, and worst of all, the sounds they make! They just wheeze and grunt it’s just plain horrifying! Nevertheless I wanted the loot inside that tomb. When Jake finally managed to open the tomb I was excited. Honestly I was extremely lucky to come across Jake, I’m still debating whether or not to stab him in the back or befriend him yet but I’ll find out through this little dungeon crawl. To my surprise Jake slipped in first and I followed. Usually I take point but I’m ok with this. At least I’ll have a meat shield for those things when they happen to ambush us. “Stay still don’t make a sound.” Jake said very quietly, I simply nodded my head and froze. I heard wheezing and low growling followed by shambling footsteps. I could see Jake sneaking up on it. In one fluid motion Jake took down the creature killing it the second it hit the ground. I smiled, satisfied with the crack I heard from the things skull. “I hate those things.” I stated, while walking ahead, excited to get closer to the treasure. Before I even got five feet away from my original position Jake grabbed my arm and pulled my back as a swarm of black darts shot at the wall. “Thanks” I muttered, “You need to be more careful.” “It’s not my fault! I couldn’t even see the pressure plate!” Jake muttered something as he pulled out a torch and lit it. The room was much bigger than I thought. “Darkness shrouds even the brightest minds.” Jake whispered, I looked at him puzzled. Before I could even ask he caught my glance and spoke, “I read a lot.” I nodded showing my understanding. After a few minutes of just standing I became annoyed, “Well?” I stated with annoyance. “Well what?” Jake responded oblivious to my impatience. I sighed and started walking forward, I knew it was safe because Jake didn’t yank me back and I could hear him following me. I began to feel in itch in my side that wouldn’t go away, no matter how much I scratched it didn’t satisfy, “Why do you keep scratching your side?” Jake said a worried expression on his face, “Calm down it’s just an itch I probably got bitten by a blood napper.” I said wincing slightly as it hurt a little when I scratched it. Jake sat me down and lifted my cloak, I blushed lightly but stopped the second I saw his expression, “That is definitely not a blood napper.” He said. I looked at him worried and slightly scared, “L-lemme see.” He nodded and backed up allowing me to see. What I saw horrified me, almost my entire left side was a dark purple. “You must’ve gotten hit with one of those darts.” “What kind of poison does that?” I said terrified of what may happen. “Its ok I keep vaccines and antidotes with me wherever I go.” Jake said trying to calm me down. I relaxed a little knowing that I would live, Jake pulled out a vial with a needle at the end, and it was filled with lava-coloured liquid. “This is the antidote.” Jake stated, I noticed slight unease in his voice. “What’s wrong?” “The antidote has some side effects.” “I don’t care about the side effects give it to me now!” I said impatiently. He nodded and reluctantly injected the vial into my arm and the liquid funneled out. After a few minutes the purple mark began to fade, that’s when my veins exploded in pain. I felt like I was on fire, like I was going to melt and die. Jake took out another vial with a cool purple liquid and jabbed into my neck. It felt like ice but heaven at the same time. I tried to say that I was ok but no words came out. Jake smiled and nodded as he closed my eyes.
