I breathed heavily as I readied my spell book trying to utter the right incantation to counter my father’s silencing spell. Of course, it was no use. My father is much too quick with his tongue for me to even speak half of the incantation. Just when I thought I was beat I remembered something from my own personal studies. I quickly flipped through my spell book and found a motion spell. With great haste I quickly signed the required motions with my free hand. A cold black ink-like substance left my hand in a cloud-like form quickly making its way to my father. It dissipates and my father and I meet each other’s eyes as we both laugh, “Well done Hiro!” My father exclaims as we both stepped off of our pedestals.

We bow to signify a respectful duel of the arcane arts. “I honestly didn’t expect you to pull that sort of stunt!” he said, his eyes filled with pride. I smiled, “Thanks.” We walked into our small grey stone house with marble floors. It was always cold in our house but it isn’t because we don’t have a wood oven but because we love it. My father has even taught me how to make ice and snow into magical energy so I could defend myself better. I remember a time when I created a Skopra out of pure ice! But anyway, I later found myself in my room studying the crypt that Jake was supposed to be exploring. It seemed to belong to a Necro; a Necro is an evil sorcerer with the ability to reanimate the dead, they are very dangerous and very difficult to deal with. I hoped Jake was ok. Who knows what lurks in those crypts. It could be anything from Skopras to the wraiths, but I wasn’t worried, in fact I was confident my dear brother would easily conquer that crypt. Still though, I can’t help but think something’s wrong, as if Jake is in danger. What if he got hit with a dart? Or got his throat ripped out by an undead? No, he’s fine I know it. I just have to calm down and believe in my brother. I mean, what would he say to me if he found out that I am doubting his ability? He is after all one of the best masters of unarmed combat plus, he’s a skilled runesmith, and he was taught how to defend himself against most magic! I need to stop thinking, maybe sleep would be better than worrying over my Jack of all trades brother.

*three days later* “Jake hasn’t been back for days dad! I have to go look for him!” My father sighed and put a hand on my shoulder, “He’s fine son there is nothing to worry about.”  “I’m going, I need to find him, I will be back.” I said, my father nodded, “Well, be careful.” “I will.” I replied, I left the door and began my journey to Jake’s supposed destination.
