Joel sat in the local library trying to get one of his assignments done. He would have done it at home but his dad was renovating the guest room again. So here he was, getting frustrated at not knowing the answer to the maths assignment. He disliked maths a lot. He believed that a majority of what they were being taught was not useful. He wished he could just tear up the paper and be done with it forever but he stayed and kept trying.
After what seemed like an hour, Joel took a break. He packed up his stuff and walked around the library for something to read. He was stuck between the kids section where his favourite series was and the adult section where he is always told to read from because "He is too old for kids books". He hated when adults said this too him. Joel couldn't resist. He hurried over to the shelf with his favourite book and found it immediately. Joel wondered how many times he had got that book out at this library. After borrowing the book, Joel returned to his study area and got back to work. It wasn't long before he grunted in frustration.
Joel felt a tap on his shoulder. It was probably the librarian coming to tell him to quiet down or something. Joel turned around to see Carter standing there looking at him. Joel was speechless. He was stunning. His blonde hair was comed to the left. He wore a light grey shirt with blue jeans. His eyes were such a nice shade of blue.
"H..hey. You're Carter right? The new guy at school?" Joel asked nervously. Why did he feel this way around Carter? His hands were shaky and his breathing was different. Carter nodded in response and he took out a notepad, started writing and showed Joel.
"Do you need help with that assingement?" He wrote.
"Uh yeah, well kinda. I think I understand it enough but now thanks to part 6 I don't know." Joel replied. Remember to breathe Joel. You don't even know the guy.
Carter pulled out the chair next to Joel and sat down. He placed his stuff on the ground next to them. Carter motioned to pass the work closer to him so Joel put it between them. Joel showed him what exactly he was struggling with and Carter nodded and wrote down in the notebook again. Joel waited patiently. He couldn't help but admire Carter. His hair looked so soft. Joel wanted to touch it while staring into his eyes. Joel paused. What the hell was he thinking? He has a girlfriend and he isn't gay. Joel snapped out of these thoughts as Carter finished writing.
"I see where you are confused. This part did confuse me as well. The teacher said it was a misprint. It was meant to show this." Carter's handwriting was neat, Joel was jealous. For the next half an hour Carter helped Joel through the work. With persistence Joel had finally finished and could manage on his own.
"Joel I finally found you! Where have you been??" He heard a familiar voice say. Carter and Joel turned around to find Hayley walking up to them. She seemed stressed.
"I've been texting you for the past twenty minutes. Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." She said looking to Carter." I'm Hayley, Joel's girlfriend." Carter signed hello."Hayley, this is Carter. He is new to our school. He has been helping me with my math work and got a bit carried away."
"It's lovely to meet you Carter but Joel and I have to leave unfortunately. We have dance class in thirty minutes."
"Oh my gosh, I almost forgot." Joel said as he packed up his gear in a panic. "Hey will I see you at school tomorrow?" He said to Carter. He nodded and held out his hand. Joel shook his hand and almost died at how soft his hand was. They parted ways and Joel felt a strong urge to go back for him.
-Later at the dance class-
Joel and Hayley began their dance routine. They have been practising for about a month now. Hayley was a natural but Joel had a long way too go. He made a few mistakes and Hayley noticed but she didnt say anything. He couldn't stop thinking about Carter. Joel found him to be fascinating. Ahh what are these feelings?? Focus Joel! Look at Hayley. You know, your girlfriend! Look at her dress, see how beautiful it looks on her. See how it makes her movements look so graceful and poetic while fierce. That, paired with those eyes and drop dead gorgeous smile. You are not gay Joel, you are straight and stressed. Now focus on the dance!
