Generations

Prologue

Twelve figures stood around a semi-circular table. All eyes were on their leader waiting for him to speak. Sighing he begun to talk. " I have summoned you all hear to discuss a very grave matter, that none of you will be happy with." Pausing to look around the room, his eyes stopped on the face of his daughter. Her grey eyes seeming to already know where this conversation was heading. "We have ruled and looked over the mortal world for thousands of years now but I fear that our time is coming to an end very soon." At that moment the occupants of the room chorused their displeasure and surprise at once. "Quiet"! Their leaders voice reverberated around the room seeming to make the walls shake. A well-built man turned to look him in the eyes. " Father what could you possibly mean our time is coming to an end. We are Gods we do not simply die and vanish." His sons words pulling a slight grin to his face. "My son our time has come and a new age, a new generation is to take our place. We are out of touch with the mankind that stands to day." "Who shall replace us than if we hand the reigns over to the humans, they will destroy themselves we are here to guide them." Spoke an young man who was running his hand through his glowing golden hair. " That is being taken care of by my brother." Their leader gestured at a man who was still seated. At that the voices all whirled around in disagreement. " Him of all people you trust with the replacements of us, he will have us no sooner thrown in the pit and take your throne for himself!" Argued a stunning woman who was seated next to the center of the table. "My wife I fear if this is not done there will not be a throne for me to sit in" the leader voiced once again catching everyone's attention. "My daughter tell them what is to come" he motioned for the grey eyed girl to speak. "My family it as my father has said there is a force coming that none of us can fathom to over come" looking around before continuing "the ones before us have come again but this time we shall not be the ones to battle them for our strength is waning and we have all experienced this" her words meeting the silence in the room and when no one spoke against her, they knew what she said to be true. "We must pass on our divinity to 13 mortals who in turn will lead the battle against our foes and save the mortal world". "And if we refuse?" Asked the muscular guy who had been the first to scream his voice against the leaders. Her grey eyes closing to slits at her brothers outrageous question." It is not your place to refuse, as we sit and speak now our essence are being drained so we may pass on our powers". "WHAT DO YOU MEAN BEING DRAINED" yelled her brother the fire in the center of the room roaring to ceiling as his anger filled the room. The one man who had stayed his seat for the discussion rose and as quickly as the fire had picked up it begun to die and flicker until it was just a single flame licking the air to stay alive. " I have spoken to the fates and our time is very short". He stated sharply while making eye contact with everyone in the room. " After this meeting is over the gods of Olympus will be no more, as for the mistrust you all have toward me I shall swear upon the river of Styx that I do not intend to over throw my dear brother and I will do my duty and join you all in oblivion. But for now everything that Zeus and Athena have said are true." Turning to Zeus " Brother our time is short and we must finish this discussion I must get to earth and begun the process" and with that being said the man turned and begin to walk out the room. "Hades, do not let us down." Zues commanded. To that he simply answered "I shall see you soon brother".
