A/N: Okay so I made some changes to this chapter. It still feels sort of abrupt to me, but the story needed action, and this chapter explains some of what's going on.  So I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to vote or comment to your heart's content.

Kaelvar grimaced as he spotted the white dragon gliding over the large, pristine lake. A part of him was relieved when he saw no rider atop of the dragon. That relief vanished when he saw the lithe, white dragon land gracefully down by the lake. He could see two horses and to his surprise a unicorn. What is a unicorn doing with two horses and a dragon? Kaelvar brushed the thought aside. It was not important.

He shifted his weight on his own dragon, Lairelithoniel. Only he and his dragon knew that name. Names held power, and to know a dragon's true name was to have complete control over it. Therefore, to everyone else, his dragon was simply Lai.

He gave Lai a silent command to land, and the massive, hunter green dragon began to descend. As Lai descended, he felt something strange. It took a moment for him to recognize it, but once he did, he knew without a doubt that what he was feeling was virgin magic. It crashed against him and swirled around him like a tidal wave and he took a moment to steady his breathing and reacquaint himself with the high amount of magic. Why is there so much virgin magic here? It did not make sense. He shrugged off the thought. It, too, was not important.

Because Lai was large for her age and bulky, even for a dragon, she could not land swiftly, or lightly. She hit the grassy shore with an echoing quake, her great wings causing a small gale. The horses reared in fright and would have bolted had they not been hobbled. The white dragon turned her head to stare challengingly up at the larger female dragon, letting out an angry hiss as she landed.

Such arrogance from such a small dragon, Lai growled. Kaelvar ignored her, dismounted, and walked up to the smaller white dragon. He briefly admired her gleaming scales and took a moment to feel proud of his pupil before he reminded himself of what he was here to do.

"Where is Leovar? It is urgent that I speak with him." The white dragon looked down at him with her large, ruby colored eyes for a long moment before turning her head to a massive tree. Kaelvar frowned, thinking the dragon was tricking him before he felt the magical properties of the tree. He had not sensed it at first due to the heavy amount of virgin magic that roiled around the lake like crashing waves on an ocean. The strange thing about it was one minute the waves of magic would spike and crash about, becoming almost incapacitating in its force, and the next it would become calm, mild ripples.

Wading through the high concentration of virgin magic, Kaelvar stepped up to the tree and spread out his senses. For a moment the virgin magic almost downed him, but he fought against it and probed instead for a different kind of magic. He could feel old, ancient spells in place along with relatively newer ones. Beyond that, he could feel the faint trace of another dragon rider as well as a Sidhe. Kaelvar couldn't help but wonder what Leovar was doing with a Sidhe, of all beings.

Telling himself he would find out soon enough, he knocked on the bark of the tree, feeling somewhat silly doing so, even though he knew better and that the tree was just an illusion. A moment of silence before a large chunk of bark swung inward and a tall, muscular Sidhe with pale blond hair and green eyes appeared before him. He took a small step back, sensing the age of the man and cleared his throat.

"I am here to see Leovar the White Rider," He stated plainly, not explaining his reason for seeing his former pupil. The man eyed him for a moment with his green eyes and for a moment, Kaelvar caught a glimpse of dizzying tri-colored eyes before they changed back to green. The Sidhe stood aside and Leovar stepped forward, his face guarded and wary.
