Josh's POV

I've always had it easy, right from the start. I guess that's one of the few positives that come with your father running one of the biggest gangs the North of England has ever seen, based in the city of Sheffield.

Thats right, my father owns a gang, though he doesn't really do any of the dirty work himself, he has workers who do the dangerous stuff for him whilst he sits back and profits from peoples misery. Sounds harsh but that's just how it is in this world, it's dog eat dog out there and my family was at the top of the food chain.

Being brought up in the world of gangs has never really bothered me so much, surrounded by drugs and guns and trafficking. To be honest I love it. Being the heir to the gang means that growing up I've always got exactly what I wanted when I wanted it, no questions asked. For instance, when I was 9 I wanted the most expensive gaming console on the market and with a click of my fingers it was being brought to me on a silver platter.

But that was 9 years ago, that was child's play.

Right now I have my sights set on something bigger, something much more valuable in my eyes, something living.

And I'm not going to stop until I get him.

I know what you are thinking, this just sounds like some stupid crush right? Wrong. This is so much more than just a crush.

It started when i was in year 9 and my English teacher told me that I had been selected to show one of the new year 7s around on their first day of secondary school. At first, naturally, I was pretty pissed off when I heard I would have to spend my entire day with some scrawny year 7 following me around embarrassingly like a lost puppy. But that quickly changed when I was introduced to him.

He was pretty short compared to the other children around him from his year, with big doe eyes that looked up at me because of our obvious height difference. He had messy curly hair that covered his entire forehead and all of his eyebrows, god I miss his cute curly hair, nowadays he prefers it straightened.

"Hi my names Josh." I said to him. He nodded at me, looking at the floor like he was going to burst into tears. "You alright?"

All he did was nod again, something I quickly realised was all he did in terms of communication. I spent the entire day walking around with him trying to get him to talk and from that day on I've been just a little obsessed with him.

When he was in year 8 and I was in year 10, I used the computer at the gang office to find out more about him. That's the first time I ever found out his name. Oliver, though I'm going to call him Oli once we are closer. The name Oliver is way too formal for a boy with such innocent eyes and a baby face like his.

Around a year later I did some more stalking and discovered that his parents had finished finalising their divorce a few months prior and his father now lived in Germany with his new family. I felt so bad for my sweet boy, I just wanted to run up to him in the halls and hug him tight. But I couldn't. He didn't know me even if I knew him.

I knew the name of his first dog, the name of the primary school he went to, I even knew that his mum was hardly around anymore and had a bad drug addiction.

I wanted him to know me so bad, no I didn't want it I needed it. And my opportunity was coming close.

Maybe in another life we would have met in normal circumstances like at a bar or in a library, but not this one.
