Metanoia or repentance means to change your mind. Typically we associate repentance with the idea of being sorrowful for a act that we perceive is against God. But how can you offend God if God is all-knowing? You can’t. God isn’t surprised by our mistakes. The primal meaning of the word is to change or transform our mind. To stop and go another direction, a direction that is virtuous and beneficial to all. When Jesus says, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near”, he’s not saying that we should be sorrowful, but to be awakened, to shift our mind/consciousness to the movement and activity of God on this planet or plain of consciousness. This statement is an invitation to see and participate in the wonder of God. If the current path you’re on isn’t working for you, metanoia! By changing directions we can and will create heaven on earth. Heaven is here, right now and there and everywhere and can be experienced today! -obr
