I'm struggling too.

Waking up

His eyes opened slowly, everything was blurry and then he remembered. He could see the fire fighters moving towards them and then saw Frankie "get her out first" he said they nodded and took the little girl out and to hospital straight away. Shortly after Iain she Ruby's arm buried under all of the rubble that had landed on her "Ruby! Ruby!" He shouted almost crying he lifted the pieces of wood away from her face and she had cuts all over her she opened her eyes slowly "I'm alright" she said "don't move" Said Iain she nodded and lied still the firefighters got everything off of her and then her and Iain got out carefully. When they were back on their feet Iain hugged her tightly "get that arm seen to" she said he nodded and kissed her head "I'm just glad we're all out alive" he smiled she smiled and kissed his cheek "go on" she said he walked over to an ambulance and got his arm bandaged "Ruby" said Jan she turned around "are you alright?" She asked she nodded and sat down on the back of the ambulance with her "just sore" she smiled "I just want that little girl to be alright" she said she nodded "she was stable" she smiled Ruby nodded. "Where are you hurting?" She asked "my neck and my lower back a bit but I think I'm just bruised from where I fell" she smiled "your back and neck?" She asked Ruby nodded "I know the rules but I'm not going on a spinal board or wearing a neck brace" she smiled Jan nodded "I know, you wouldn't even if I tried" she smiled Ruby smiled "climb in with Iain we will have a look at these cuts" she said Ruby nodded and climbed in sitting on the bed next to Iain. "Are you sure your alright?" He asked she nodded "positive just scraped that's all" she smiled he nodded and held her hand. Jan had a look at the scrape on her face "this should heal fine" she smiled "no scar it's just a graze" she smiled "is your shoulder alright?" Asked Iain "shoulder?" Asked Jan "she hurt her shoulder it was my fault I moved and something fell on her but it was heavy" he said "can I have a look?" Asked Jan "it's nothing" Said Ruby "then I will see nothing" smiled Jan Iain held her hand tighter "do you want me to see if you can go in the other ambulance this shirt is going to need to come off" she said "I've got a vest top underneath" she said Jan smiled and unbuttoned her shirt "don't" Said Ruby stopping Jan pulling it over her shoulder "see it's hurting" she said "it's fine" she said "Ruby, Listen your exactly like me, you don't want help when you need it because you feel stupid, but like you said earlier sometimes we're better on the sidelines let these paramedics do their jobs we're only human too" he said Ruby half smiled at him and nodded "I'll cut it" she said "this is my uniform" said Ruby "we can get you another uniform" said Jan she nodded and Jan cut her shirt off of her shoulder leaving her in a vest top. "You have a nail stuck in your shoulder that's why it's hurting" said Jan Ruby turned her head a little too quickly and went a bit dizzy "Alright?" Asked Jan she nodded "yeah" she said shaking it off Iain just held her hand "this cut on your arm looks nasty Iain" Said Ruby Jan was only with them there wasn't another paramedic "you can't take it out now they'll have to at the hospital just dress Iain's arm properly the blood is soaking through" Said Ruby Jan nodded "on the condition Iain sits on this chair and you lay down" she said "it's not too bad here just don't make me move" she said "you can't both sit there whilst we are driving" Said Jan Iain got up and sat on the chair and Ruby sat back on the bed not laying down Jan walked over to Iain and dressed his arm again "your both losing blood we need to get you to hospital quickly" she said "put your foot on it!" She shouted the ambulance started moving as Jan dressed the wound around the nail in Ruby's shoulder. "I want you to put pressure on this ruby not the nail but around it that's way to deep to take any chances" she said she nodded and did as she said crying Iain held her other hand "were going to be alright I promise" he said she nodded tears running down her face. "I'm sorry Ruby if I had just done what you said" he said "if you had done what I said that little girl would still be laying there and I'd take this over letting a child die any day" she smiled closing her eyes Iain looked at Jan "Ruby!" Said Jan she opened her eyes slowly "keep your eyes open for me" She said putting pressure on her shoulder "Iain can you get some morphine in her please?" She asked he nodded and inserted a line "and let's have her on oxygen her breathings laboured" she said "ECG" she said Iain stuck the stickers on her chest "ECG is fine" he said "good" she said "sats?" She asked "94 percent" he said "a bit low" she said he nodded "but fine for now" she smiled. They pulled up to the hospital and rushed Ruby through "this is Ruby Spark she is 23 years old she was in a collapsed building she had a nail stuck in her shoulder quite deep, she appears to have slight concussion but the main concern is the amount of blood she's losing" she said they nodded and took her off of her. "Iain come with me let's get that stitched" she said "I want to be with her" he said "the quicker you get fixed the quicker you can get to her" she said he nodded and they caught Ethan "would you be able to do a quick fix?" Asked Jan he nodded "cubicle 4 please" he smiled "what happened?" He asked "Ruby and I were in a a collapsed building we found that missing girl" he said "are Ruby and Frankie okay?" He asked "Frankie came in first we didn't see her but she was unconscious but breathing, Ruby's lost quite a lot of blood" he almost cried "well as soon as we fix you up then we can send you to keep her company" he smiled.
