O, woe is me!
In the midst of this sea of men
My soul echoes an eerie emptiness.
My friends, they have abandoned.
Even mine enemies repel.
I have wept myself a body of water
And become as an island stripped of life.
E'en so, 'tis here on the sandy shores,
'Tis here I lay back and look up.
Thine eyes read my soul like a book.
You have opened my chest
And looked into my heart.
I am stripped bare of all things
That did anchor me to the depths.
In Thine eyes, I see not hatred
Nay, not scrutiny, nor embarrassment.
No, I see an undying love
That withstood all abandonment.
Yea, 'tis Thy love that keeps me afloat
Amidst this sea of drowning voices.
