I awoke with a start in the back of a moving van, riding slowly down a boulevard that I have never seen before. I sat up, bumping my head on the seatbelt that was supposed to buckled, but wasn't, and looked out the tinted black window of the van. I looked for road signs, just to find where we were. Suddenly, I spotted a bright green sign that read....
California.
"Mom?" I looked over at the slim blonde woman next to me.
Oh, before I introduce you to my mother, let's talk about me.
Don't worry, I'm not that self-centered.
I'm Lana Rose Muran, 14 years old, and according to my mother, I don't have a rebellious bone in my body. Now, let's talk about my family.
My mom, Raina, is in her mid-40's, and she looks amazing.
My dad, well, I don't know. I never met him, and I never see him around.

Jacob Michael Muran.
1993-2004.
He died in a car crash, that I was in, along with my mother. He died way too young, only 11.
I wish we could switch places.
"Lana, honey, what is it?"
My mom shifted her body towards me.
"Were you serious when you said we were moving to California to find you a job?" I questioned.
"Why else do you think we're in a moving van on a road in L.A.?" she laughed.
"I thought you were kidding. Why didn't you say you were serious? I HATE YOU!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I pulled the soft pink blanket that was next to me and didn't talk to my mom for the rest of the ride.
"LANA ROSE, C'MON WE'RE HERE!" my mom's perky voice yell.
