100 Years Later...
"Have a great day at school, sweetheart!" Mom called out.
"Bye Mom!" I cried.
I walked out the door and walked to school.
Hey there! I'm Nailah. Nailah Griffin. Just your normal, everyday Riverfall City girl. You can say I'm a Teacher's Pet. I get high grades in all of my classes, and this one girl in my class bothers me a lot about it. Her name is Rose Matthews, the snobby, spoiled brat.
As I was on my way to school, Riverfall Academy, I bumped into my friend, Mel Snow.
"Hey Mel!" I said.
She turned around and smiled.
"Hey Nailah. Walking to school?" Mel asked.
"Yup. Waiting for the bus?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Why don't you walk to school with me? There's actually something I wanted to talk to you about."
"Sure."
I smiled and continued to walk with Mel at my side. We talked and laughed the whole way to RA. We soon walked in through the school entrance and parted ways to go to our locker. As I was walking to my locker, I saw Rose, leaning on her crush, Joshua Norwood. Rose was wearing a very revealing, yellow crop top and a very short, black skirt, and black heels.
Gross...
"Rose, can you get off me?" Joshua asked.
"Why...?" she purred.
Joshua just groaned in defeat.
I'm guessing he asked her a lot before. I can tell that the outcome is still the same.
I walked past them and opened my locker. I looked over at Joshua and gave him a friendly smile. He gladly returned the smile. I put my bag in my locker, and took a book that I read during free period. When I closed it, the next thing I knew my head slammed against my locker. My eyes filled with fear and confusion as Rose had me up against my locker, gripping on my collar.
"Don't talk, don't smile, don't touch, don't even look at MY Joshy, understand?" she asked.
She then let me go and began to walk the opposite direction.
"Bye, Joshy!" Rose said.
When the halls were quiet, Joshua turned to me and hurried to my side.
"Are you okay?" he asked immediately.
"Yeah, the back of my head just hurts a little." I said, rubbing the back of my head.
Joshua reached over and placed his hand on where the pain was. When his finger grazed over the bump, I winced and quickly grabbed his hand.
"Sorry." he said.
"It's not your fault. It's that Barbie Girl wannabe's fault." I said.
Joshua couldn't help but laugh. I laughed along as well.
"What gets on my nerves is that she does this everyday," Joshua said.
"An everyday epidemic, if you ask me," I said.
"Exactly. You literally just mind your own business, and that provokes her."
"I'm also a Teacher's Pet, so that's another reason why.
Joshua sighed and averted my gaze. He then looked back at me.
"I never introduced myself. I'm Joshua." he said, holding out his hand.
"I know who you are, but it's nice to meet you. I'm Nailah." I said, shaking his hand.
We released each other's hands and smiled.
I now know why Rose loves him so much. Joshua's brown hair is so silky smooth, and his eyes are like emeralds. His touch is so gentle, and his smile is so... so... warm... and friendly.
"Well, I better get going," I said.
"Do you want me to walk you to the nurse? You know, for your head?" Joshua asked.
"No thanks, I'll be fine. It'll heal up during the day, but thanks for the offer."
"Okay, if you say so."
"At lunch, do you want to sit with me and my friend?"
Joshua sighed and shook his head.
"I wish I could, but Rose refuses to let me leave her side," he confessed.
"You know, you shouldn't let someone like her control your actions. She's playing you like a puppet. You need to stand up to her," I said.
"You don't think I tried that? She always thinks I'm joking and continues to be around me."
"I'm sorry about her."
Joshua gave me a reassuring smile.
"It's fine," he said.
"I better get going now. See you later, Joshua." I said.
"Later."
I gave a small wave and began to walk to the courtyard. When I made it to the courtyard, I laid down on the grass and cracked open my book. Few minutes later, the bell rang. I got up and walked back in the school. Few hours later, school ended and I was walking home. I touched the back of my head and winced.
That's a big bump...
I wasn't paying attention and I took a wrong turn. I was soon walking down an unfamiliar neighborhood and grew cautious. Then, a bright, pink flash appeared. It was so bright, I had to cover my eyes. When I felt the light dim down, I removed my hands from my eyes. They widened the minute I looked. It was a girl with midnight black hair and pale blue eyes.
But that's not all...
Her pupils were a thin, rhombus shape, like a dragon, and she had silver dragon wings.
What in the heck...?
"Hello, young Dragon Blood," she said.
"Wait, who are you, and why do you have wings?" I asked.
"My name's Leila, and I'm a Dragon Blood, like you."
"I'm a what?"
