life was a living hell for genesis jones.
charlie was over every day, usually with comfort food and netflix.
she really did help, but no matter how much she loved charlie, she felt empty.
it had been two weeks since the breakup, and gen was no better. she could only imagine how much better sadie was.
charlie brought a lot of food, but gen couldn't bring herself to eat it. she brought movies, but gen couldn't watch them. she spent a lot of her days staring off into space, or reading her favorite books.
sometimes, when charlie was out getting food, she would sneak onto her phone. she would look at her favorite picture.
it was two days after sadie and gen started dating. they were in the cafe, when gen pulled out her phone and took a photo of them together. sadie was kissing her on the cheek and gen never looked happier.
gen wished she could go back to that day.
if charlie ever caught her on her phone, she would hide it. she claimed it was "unhealthy" and "not good." gen thought it was bullshit.
every night after gen left, she grabbed her phone. she would pull up the contact, her thumb hovering over the call button. of course, she never built up enough confidence to call her.
she was listening to a lot of music though. she didn't exactly know which playlist to listen to. they didn't fall out of love, sadie loved her back. so she made a new playlist.
when you love each other but you can't be together.
one morning, it struck her.
her and sadie sink were done.
over.
finished.
they weren't together and there was nothing she could do about it.
it broke her heart, but she knew the realization was needed.
charlie walked in that morning to a crying gen. charlie knew she was sad, broken even, but she hadn't seen her cry since the night of. since then it was always straight faces and a monotone voice.
that morning genesis jones sobbed to charlie foster.
gen only said one sentence, repeating it over and over.
"why didn't i ask her to stay?"
after that day, gen was better.
she wasn't good, but she was better.
she started to smile more often, eating the food charlie brought. the two had some quality best friend time, which was what gen thought she needed most.
well, except sa-
the name was on her mind constantly, but gen knew it was all apart of the process.
gen's process of getting over sadie sink.
-
sadie sink was no better than genesis.
her eyes were constantly tearing up, she distances herself from all her friends including millie, she barely ate, she never left her room.
her dreams were nothing but her voice. it was the only thing she could think of.
she knew the two were over, but she couldn't help but hope they would still work out in the end.
she knew it wasn't going to happen though.
it was time for them to split ways. gen would get her happily ever after where she would get married and have kids and a dog. sadie would become an actor and whatever happened would happen.
but sadie knew that their happily ever afters weren't combined.
she could hope, pray, ask the gods for another chance, but she knew it wasn't meant to be. so sadie continued to try and move on, failing miserably.
the two were both completely miserable.
