~Pete's POV~
There was muffled laughter.
"You're actually hilarious, Trick." Bob's said.
Patrick looked at me, and then at everyone else. He pressed the speaker button.
"Uhm we aren't joking around, Bob... We all decided that its best for all of us if we just wait a bit." I said nervously.
Silence. And then..
"So let me get this straight. You guys are passing up on tour- the opurtinity of a lifetime, and something you've always longed for- all because you aren't ready?" Bob said with clear annoyance and confusion seething through his voice.
"Y-yeah." Patrick said quietly.
More silence.
"You know I really want to yell at you right now and have you realize how stupid you're being... But im too lazy and tired for that. Hows this- i'll call the record company tomorrow and get back to you. Since they're the real boss, they'll either understand, or they wont. No inbetween. So brace yourselves- Comprende?" Bob said.
"Yessir." Pete said.
"Good. Now get some beauty sleep ladies." Bob replied and the line went dead.
It seemed like everyone let out a breath at once. All we could do now was wait.
~Anna's POV~
"Im sorry your birthday was... Mildly horrible." Pete said suddenly, looking into my eyes with a lot of guilt.
We were slowly walking back to my house. The air was crisp and cold. Finally, some normal fall weather. I avoided a leaf as dived down for my head. Pete reached out and caught it, studying it intensely.
I laughed. "My birthday was not mildly horrible. It was awesome! One of the best ones ive had in awhile. Seriously, you guys played so well. And the party was super swaggie."
"Did you seriously just say swaggie?" Pete cringed, laughing hard.
"You bet i did!" I said.
"Well thanks but.. I saw your eyes. I made you cry again. I can't keep doing this to you." He replied.
I thought for a minute. "It's not your fault. I cry a lot... But it's only because I care about you and don't want to lose you."
"You couldn't lose me if you tried." He said, pulling me closer to him. We stood like that for a minute. Arms wrapped around each other, standing in the middle of the sidewalk.
"Your hair smells like tangerines." Pete said into my hair. I felt his breath on my neck. I shook with laughter.
"Thank you! I've been using this new conditioner called tangerine breeze, I guess its pretty effective." I said.
"Seriously?" He giggled.
"No, you silly goose." I told him, touching his nose. He laughed even harder.
~Pete's POV~
I pulled the covers over my head, but I knew i wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Tomorrow, Bob would call the big bosses, and they would determine whether we had to go on tour or not. And whatever they said would go... I was basically a nervous wreck. I texted Anna, and put in my headphones to tried to calm myself down.
~Anna's POV~
It was 10 am. I yawned for about the 80th time this hour. I didnt get any sleep last night- at all. We were all gathered at our usual meeting spot, Patrick's basement. Everyone looked stressed and exhausted. Everyone huddled around the phone. Bob had texted Pete saying he would call around 10, so the pressure was rising. And then all of the sudden-
"WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIENDS" Patrick's phone exploded.
"AND WE'LL KEEP ON FIGHTIN-"
Patrick quickly picked it up, almost dropping it. "Yello?"
"Hey Trick." Bob's voice was discomforting. He sounded a little worried, and dissapointed. Pete sensed it too, because he looked straight at me and mouthed "Itll be okay."
"Spill!" Julia shouted.
"Im sorry you guys... Bosses didn't take the news very well. They told me that Fall Out Boy needs to go on tour- your album is a hit. They told me that if you're not ready to go on tour, then maybe you aren't ready for a contract. They told me it had to be this way... Im so sorry you guys. But you have to go on tour next month or they'll unsign you."
And that, was exactly what I was afraid of.
