"i can't, i don't wanna be a burden." annie said.
"i'm not letting you go home after he did that to you, i'm not crazy." he said, wrapping a single arm around annie's shoulders. she leaned against him comfortably and closed her eyes.
"okay." she breathed out and opened her eyes again.
"i want you to know that i'm always here for you. whatever you need, whatever time it is, i'm here." he said softly.
"thankyou." she whispered, looking at him for a second. asher pulled her gently up so she was lying fully on top of him and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"i love your eyes." annie said truthfully, staring into them. "i wish mine were so pretty."
"yours are pretty. when the light shines on them they're gorgeous." he smiled, showing his dimples. annie reached up and poked her fingers into them quickly before they disappeared.
"you're such a cutie." asher said, grabbing her small hands and encasing them in his larger ones. he rolled them both over so he was on top and buried his head in her neck. to annie it felt like they were dating, and as much as she hated to admit it, that didn't seem such a bad idea to her. she pulled her hands out of ashers grasp and entangled her hands in his soft hair.
"you smell nice." he mumbled into her neck, and annie smiled broadly.
"aw sweetie." she said, laughing.
"yes, honeymunch?" asher replied, lifting his head up.
"i just wanted to see your face." annie grinned.
"i mean who doesn't?" asher said cockily.
"shut up." annie said, putting her hand over his face and pushing him away. he licked her palm and she wrenched it away faster than lightning.
"ewww!" she shrieked, wiping her hand on ashers shirt. "way to ruin the moment."
"oh so we were having a moment were we?" he smirked, raising an eyebrow.
"just be quiet." she said, pushing him over so he was lying on his back and sitting on his chest with her legs either side of him.
"what are you doing?" he asked, sounding kind of flustered.
"sitting on you, duh." she said.
"that's not all." he said.
"what do you mean?" annie said, confused.
"you're so innocent." he grunted, before pushing her off of him and running into the bathroom. about a minute later annie heard the shower turn on and burst out into a fit of silent laughter.

asher emerged from the bathroom, shirtless.
"i forgot to take a shirt." he said shyly, blushing. annie didn't know whether he was blushing from the previous incident or at the fact that he was stood there shirtless. annie was certainly blushing at the latter, holy smokes he was in good shape. he went to his closet and came out wearing a shirt this time.
"do you wanna order food or something?" asher asked.
"yes please!" annie said excitedly.
"now i'm gonna ask you where you want to get food from, please don't do that girl thing where you can't choose where you want to go, for the love of god." asher said.
"who said god loved me in the first place?" annie clapped back.
"don't be so edgy."
"i'm as edgy as a circle."
"where do you want to order food from?" asher deadpanned.
"chick fil a." annie said immediately.
"but that means we have to drive." asher whined.
"this is in no way a we situation due to the fact that i can't drive. it means you have to drive."
"ugh fine." asher said, dragging himself off of his bed and finding his car keys.

after getting food, the pair went back to ashers house.
"you're still staying here tonight, right?" asher said seriously, grabbing annie by the shoulders.
"sure." annie said nervously. "but my stepdad is gonna be even more angry with me when i go back."
"then don't go back."
"i can't just not go back."
"sure you can. stay here." asher said.
"i will tonight, but i can't forever. i'll go back tomorrow when he's at work or out at the bar." annie said.
"please don't get hurt." he begged, his green eyes going grey with worry. annie wrapped her arms around his tall frame and pulled him close, burying her head in his chest.
"i promise i won't." she said. asher rest his head on top of annie's and closed his eyes. they stayed there for a few minutes in silence before the sound of the front door opening caused them to spring apart.
"asher?" a boy called from downstairs. "are you home?"
"hey avi." asher sighed. "where's london?"
"she's gone to her friends house for the night. where are you?"
"i'm upstairs." asher said, grabbing annie's hand. "come on, let's go downstairs." annie followed the boy down to the hallway, where a slightly blonder, smaller version of asher with bluer eyes was taking his shoes off. after hearing two pairs of footsteps coming down the stairs, he looked up to see annie and asher holding hands.
"did i interrupt something?" he said, eyeing their hands. they pulled them apart immediately.
"no!" they said in unison, blushing crimson.

"avi this is annie. annie this is my little brother avi." asher said when he regained his normal face colour.
"pleasure to meet you, ashers girlfriend." avi said cheekily.
"she's not my girlfriend." asher sighed.
"can i have her then?"
"no!" asher said, louder than he would have liked. "i thought you liked the babysitter."
"lilia's cute i guess." avi said.
"you were head over heels for her the other day." asher said incredulously.
"wait a second did you say lilia?" annie said, butting into the conversation.
"she was avi and london's babysitter the night i met you." asher explained.
"wait so you're the guy who came home hours later than they were supposed!" annie said. "lilia was so pissed off about that."
"you know her?" avi said.
"she's my best friend." annie said.
"can i have her number?"
"i think not sweet cheeks." annie said, ruffling the younger boy's hair.
"whatever." he said, putting his bag on the floor and running up the stairs.
"you and your brother are so alike it's unreal." annie shook her head.
"no we're not!" asher said, opening the front door and pulling annie out with him.
"where are we going?" annie asked.
"you'll see."
