Jess and Oscar (Dark Ages)

Chapter 5

*POV JESS*

My body was on fire, I was vibrating so much that you could hear it,

I turned to see a woman with beautiful hair that still shined in the dimly-lit room,
I shuffled to one end of the bed in fear,

"No, please don't be scared of me..." Said Mrs. McDaniel

I felt safe but I didn't know this woman,

"Just let me give you back what's your's..." she said signaling for me to come closer

"I should have never taken these away" said Mrs. McDaniel placing her hands on the side of my head,

I felt a rush of all emotion wash over me, I remembered everything,
The Mansion, Oscar, Alex, Olympia...
Mr. McDaniel...,

A tear ran down my cheek as she embraced me,

"Mom!?" I said in confusion as I wrapped my arms around her,

"Ruth! Just call me Ruth..." Said Mrs. McDaniel with a laugh as we both began to cry.

7:01am

We all sat in the living room of the Mansion that didn't change one bit since we left,

"So how did you and Alex stay hidden for so long?" I asked looking over at Mrs. McDaniel

"Alex has invisible wards up all around the Mansion, so to them they see an abandoned house, and we stay hidden" Said Mrs. McDaniel turning to Alex,

"Why did you lock us up asshole!?!" I shouted from across the room,

Alex turned from the bar to face me while sipping her glass of Hennessy,

"Because I needed you to see your abilities for yourself" said Alex

"Why didn't you guys just take away our abilities?" I asked

"Oh no dear, You and Oscar were born with your abilities, if we took away your abilities, we would also be taking your energy, soul, and basically your life..." Said Mrs. McDaniel

"Ok this is just to much to deal with right now!" Shouted Oscar

"We are about to graduate!, I wanna go to college!, And your telling me that I'm some kind of wizard that can open portals with telekinesis and shit!" Shouted Oscar

"Oscar calm down..." I said

He swiped his hair to the side of his head,

"And why is my hair green!?
And why is her's pink!?" Asked Oscar gripping his head

"You've always had green hair Oscar" Chuckled Mrs. McDaniel

"I need some water" said Oscar

Alex snapped her finger and a water bottle appeared as Oscar jumped and we laughed.

"I missed you both so much, when you guys first left I was always expecting the worst, but then Alex decided that she would watch over you and Oscar for your highschool years" said Mrs. McDaniel

"You were going to start feeling your abilities return around your nineteenth birthdays, but thanks to Alex almost killing you both, they unlocked themselves and alerted the Cypher's and now they are looking for us as we speak, so, thanks Alex!" Said Mrs. McDaniel looking at Alex

"Fuck you Ruth..." Said Alex sipping her Hennessy once more,

"Wait where's Olympia!" I asked looking back at Oscar with a smile

"Yeah where's that pain in the ass, I remember all those punches now" chuckled Oscar

A look of despair, anger, and hatred grew across Alex and Mrs. McDaniel's face as if we had committed a horrific crime,

"What happened is she ok?!" I asked

"We didn't erase Olympia's memories, she was well trained and knew how to handle herself, when she graduated she became a mutant activist, and one of her rallies got very out of hand..."
Said Mrs. McDaniel

"She vowed to never use her abilities on a human, I thought that was stupid, turns out I had good reason, a group of mutant terrorists chased Olympia out into the woods as far as they could get her, and beat her so bad to the point her skull was fractured and she was bleeding profusely" said Alex turning and facing the bar,

"By the time I reached her she was as cold as ice, eyes dead and empty, So I torched the forest with them in it, all 900 acres..." Alex continued

"Oh my God..." I said

"There are people out there that despise us, so we need to be careful and not draw attention" said Mrs. McDaniel

Alex stumbled back from the long
hallway

"Alex?, Are you ok?" Asked Mrs. McDaniel

Alex ran to get her spell book,

"They got through the wards!, they found us!, We need to relocate" said Alex

"There's no time we can make another one, we need to get them out of here!"
Said Mrs. McDaniel helping me up,

"Oscar you think you could open another portal?" Asked Mrs. McDaniel

"And how exactly do I do that!?" Asked Oscar

"Just focus on the place you want to go, make sure it's safe please" said Mrs. McDaniel

Oscar held his hand to the floor as the small portal appeared,

"Oscar how the hell are we gonna get through that!" Shouted Alex

"Oh fuck you Alex!, It's been three years!" Shouted Oscar

"Jess quickly, touch his shoulder!" Said Mrs. McDaniel

I grabbed his shoulder and the portal swallowed us dropping us onto a thick red carpet,

We groaned in pain and we were approached by a woman,

"Oscar, Ruth, long time no see!" Said the woman,

"Grace!?!" Said Oscar and Mrs. McDaniel

"In the fucking flesh!..." Said Grace
