Richard to the rescue

I woke up still looking at the ceiling, but the side of my bed was in view. I sat up realizing that I was laying on the floor, I stood up popping my back and legs. I felt a sudden breeze in the room.
"What the hell?"
I look over to where my window was, and it was open causing wind to come into the room. I quickly ran over shutting and locking it.
"Breakfast!"
I walked down stairs smelling the warm buttery scent of pancakes.
"I'm starving!"
Mom laughed at my comment and put a couple of pancakes onto a plate, then slid it along the counter to me.
"Eat up."
I grabbed the plate and a fork and made my way to the dinner table. I ate quickly putting my plate in the sink and made my way to the stairs.
"Oh! Ashley, I'm gonna be in a meeting late today. Do you know anyone to take you home?"
I thought for a moment.
"I know two."

~~Time Skip~~

I walked up to the school looking for Emily and Josh, I spotted them talking and started my way over to them. Josh saw me and waved, I was about to wave back when the boys who were bullying Emily stepped in front of me blocking my path. Within a matter of moments I was surrounded.
"You're the girl from yesterday."
I groaned and tried walking past them, but one of them grabbed by arm tightly and forcefully stopped me.
"Alex Arekkusu! Let go of her this instant!"
Alex right away let my arm go and backed up, I looked behind me to see Richard standing there. I mouthed a thank you to him and he nodded giving me a small smile. I finally made it to Josh and Emily giving the an innocent smile.
"I kinda wish you hit him."
Josh nodded agreeing with Emily, I laughed at them.
"It's the second day of school, I've had enough fights already."
Emily gave me a confused look.
"You didn't really have a fight, more like tripped the guy up."
I scratched the back of my neck and laughed nervously.
"Well, I did hit Chris in the nose."
Emily and Josh's jaw dropped, they looked at me as if I inflicted a war.
"It was self defense okay! He wouldn't stop touching me."
Both of them had a look of anger after what I said, I laughed.
"Don't worry I can protect myself. Oh, and I need to talk to you two after school."
The first bell of the day rang and we all made it to our first class.
