It Can't Be

Willow) Silver!  Someone's in the woods!!!

Silver rushed down towards Willow.  By the time he got to her, she was already by the lemur girl trying to wake her up.

Willow) I- I don't think she's breathing..

Silver) Quick, we gotta take her back to the Knothole.

Still watching them, Shadow peered at them from behind a tree.  He noticed something in the unconscious girl's hand.  From his distance all he saw was a faint purple glow.  He squinted his eyes to get a better look at the glowing object.  What he saw...  Made his heart sink...

Rika felt empty.  She didn't know how to feel about anything, anymore.  Or what to do now.  Scourge did the damage.  He finally marked her.  She could leave now..  But what for?  Nothing mattered anymore.  She just felt lost.  

Rika) Scour--

Scourge) What

Rika) Sorry just uhm..  

She didn't know what to say to him anymore.  She looked up at him.  

Rika) I just wanted to tell you that..  I still love you..

Scourge) I know.

Rika's ears twitched at his quick responses.  She kept thinking to herself.  'Am I scared of him?  Or am I scared of losing him?' 

Scourge) I'm gonna give you this warp ring.  You can leave whenever you want to.

Rika) Oh okay..  Thanks.

Scourge handed Rika a small unactivated warp ring.  She took it and put her hand through it to wear it as a bracelet so she'll never lose it.  Will she ever use it though?

Rika) Thank you..  

Scourge) Yep.  Also-

Rika looked at Scourge without moving her head, only her eyes.  She tensed up.

Scourge) Don't tell anyone, not even your little fawn friend, about what just happened.

Rika) Alright..

Scourge walked away from Rika, to go discuss his plans with Steel and Sanctum.  Rika curled up into a fetal position.  She started sobbing quietly.  She covered her face with her hands.  

Rika) What have I done?...

Shadow) no...  That can't be it..

Shadow saw a familiar purple glowing scepter in the Lemur girl's hand.  He suddenly remembered, years ago, the events of Solaris...  

Shadow) Iblis and...  and...

His thoughts flashed with images of him holding the scepter, a little girl, a burning city, a hedgehog who looked just like him...   

Shadow) MEPHILES!?

Willow and Silver darted their heads in Shadow's direction.  Shadow noticed that they heard him shout.

Silver) Shadow?  What are you doing here?!

Shadow) Her hand--  The scepter!

Silver) What?

Silver looked down at the girl and saw the Scepter of Darkness in her hand.  He gasped and literally started having a mini PTSD attack.  

Silver) Ibli-- Ib-- Iblis-- oh god oh no HOW?!?!??!?!

Willow) Iblis?  I thought he was destroyed along with Mephiles a long time ago!

Shadow) I swear--  We destroyed Solaris..

Silver) How is it here?!  Why is this girl holding the scepter?!?!

Willow) Both of you, relax..  Let's get her back to the Knothole, we need to help her!

Shadow grabbed the scepter and gulped nervously.  Silver lifted the girl up with his telekinesis and they all ran back to the Knothole.

Shadow) Please let this all be a dream...
