The sun blinded Aurelia as it peaked through the boards that made up the boardwalk. She had spent hours trying to find a safe place to sleep and finally gave up, crawling into a small crawlspace beneath the pier. She rubbed her eyes and sat up just enough that she didn't hit her head. An exhausted sigh escaped her lips and she leaned down to rub her sore legs.
She could hear the roar of the morning crowd that was just starting their days on the boardwalk. The sound of seagulls cawing for scraps. Her stomach rumbled as her nose picked up the scent of freshly baked donuts and coffee. With another heavy sigh, she slowly crawled her way out of her 'home' and made way for the bustling boardwalk about her. Her boot-clad feet hit the pier and she trudged on her way, passing people who gave her the look. The look of pity and disgust as they put together what she was. At least today it was mostly pity. Sometimes it was just men thinking that because she was homeless she would do anything for a quick buck.
As she wandered the pier her eyes found a brilliantly lit up comic shop. A smile made its way onto her lips and Aurelia soon found herself inside. Unknown to her an old woman watched her from beside a food stand. The woman had long gray hair pulled back into a messy bun, dark brown eyes that could pierce through you, and a worn smile on her lips. She had watched the girl since the moment she arrived, sensing a great darkness around her. She had thought she was crazy until she caught the scent of a young vampire coven. The woman had watched them as they surrounded the girl and was amused by them. Her head tilted as she remembered how the coven leader's eyes began to change when he made contact with her. It had been many years since she had seen it and if she hadn't observed it with her own eyes she would not have believed it. Shaking her head to clear her thoughts she whispered a small chant and pointed a finger towards the girl. For a brief second the bracelet on Aurelia's wrist glowed then faded away. And then the old woman disappeared into the crowd.
Aurelia hummed happily as she strolled through the aisles of comics. Grabbing a Scarlet Witch and Vision comic off the shelf she thumbs through it. Her teeth bite down on her lip in debate as she tried to reason with herself. 'Comic or breakfast... comic or breakfast.' Finally after a few moments she places a hand on her stomach and sighs in defeat. Placing it back on the shelf she made her way for the door, taking one last look back she grumbled then left. That day Aurelia spent hours wandering the boardwalk munching on the few snacks she was able to afford. As the sun set and people flooded the now lit up boardwalk she smiled. When the moon finally rose high in the sky she decided to slowly make her way back to her make shift 'home' under the pier.
"Do you see her anywhere?" Marko asked as Paul stood on the wooden railing and scanned over the crowds.
"No. And sniffing her out won't help." He growled lowly and sunk down to sit.
"Her scent is everywhere." David said narrowing his eyes as her scent filled his nose but he couldn't find her.
"She must have been spending hours around here. How the hell are we supposed to find her?"Paul snarled angry at the thought of not seeing her again.
