Marcia Grace
After the welcome home party was over, a few people decided to stay over and help clean out.
A few people as in Jackson.
He insisted, my mother saw nothing wrong in it though. He was after all helping to clean up. Dyson was obviously fitting right in.
I turn to look at him in awe as I'm holding a trash bag on my left hand. He stands there with having what seems like a very entertaining conversation with my father and brother. They all have big smiles on their face but somehow Dyson's is the one that can light up any dark room. He had a smile, you and anybody else (including me) could die for.
"You like him don't you" my thoughts are merely interrupted as I turn around to come face to face with the person I want nothing to do with.
I don't answer his question as he coughs up a small laugh and shakes his head. "You were always so in denial about your feelings Grace"
I was trying to keep my cool, but after he said that the bag on my left hand seemed to get heavier and heavier. "Don't call me that. We're not together" I said through gritted teeth. No one understood why I despised this kid. I mean he was good looking but the son of a bitch didn't have the personality to match it. What did I ever see in him?
"Ah, cause you were so in denial" he spits out.
"About what exactly?" I say trying to stay calm.
"Everything" he mumbles slowly. A small smirk creeping on his face. There was once a time I would have said that smirk could cure cancer! But now, now I see past it.
And what lays behind it is anything but the cure for cancer. It is cancer.
I humorlessly laugh as I roll my eyes. "If I recall you dumped me. If I also recall you were the one in denial about your damn feelings, you didn't know what you wanted. Even when you said she was standing right in front of you! And yes- I do like Dyson! I don't care. I'd scream it from the rooftops if it mean I would never have to speak to you again. So yes I am completely smitten over my roommate!" By this point I was raging and yelling.
Yes,yelling. Meaning everyone including the douchebag in front of me heard it. The only sounds currently were the sounds of Jackson's small chuckles. I rolled my eyes turning around expecting everyone to be staring at me including Dyson. But he was looking to the floor. Confused I furrowed my eyebrows.
Did he not hear what I just practically screamed out loud enough for the world including who ever lived on the rest of the planets to hear?
Still looking toward the floor he finally got it in him too look up and when he did I swear I could feel every little emotion that he was feeling. I saw past everything. He looked.. Lost.
Like a child without their favorite stuff animal. He looked so vulnerable it cut me deep. What was wrong with him? I was going to speak when suddenly he rushed out the living room leaving the out the front door. Everything stood quite for a while before my brother came over to me.
"Roommate?"
