As I lightly twirl around a few tables, I land at a specific one. A family I see often at the diner, who tip me very well. I smiles sweetly to their little girl and boy, they act shy and smile back. I set down the hot plates and hope they enjoy them. I turn around and see my Boss staring at me, I nod and she approves. I swing out my notepad and my velvet black pen, I place the tip of the pen on the paper and look up to see a man around my age. He looks at the menu before turning his head, starting to stare me up and down.
I quickly try to hide a smirk, knowing Leon would punch him in a second. As I shake my head thinking about him, I start to feel my heart pound. I feel light and butterflies as I watch this man look at me, knowing I'm thinking of Leon. I clear my throat, snapping both me and the customer out of a trance.
(Y/N)- "Hello, what can I get you today?" I give him a warm smile as he sets down the menu.
(Man)- " Water and the Cow burger." As I write down his order, I then hear him mumble something. I look up and lean a bit to him.
(Y/N)- "Sorry about that, I couldn't hear you." He smirks as he turns to the window, I confusingly go on with the order. "Fries on the side?" He hums in approval. "Alright, coming right up!"
I walk away hearing another mumbled comment, I push it aside and stick the ripped paper on the line. I ring the bell and see someone take a look, I walk away and feel eyes on me. I look around and notice everyone is minding their own business. I shrug it off and check on the orders, I see a plate of pancakes being passed. I grab it and go over to the man with the big hat on, I place it down. Not seeing his eyes lock with mine, I hear him mutter.
(Y/N)- "Ah, well enjoy your food." I say as I walk away, locking eyes with the man by the window. I look away and continue to work. Seeing only a few minutes left, I watch as cars leave the dark parking lot.
I finally hear the final bell and grab the mans plate. I walk over to him and place it down, I say the same thing, hoping he'll enjoy. I untie my apron and turn around, just to hear him talk once more.
(Man)- "I would enjoy you--" I cut him off by turning quickly around.
(Y/N)- "Sorry, I'm taken." I flash my yellow eyes and hear a gasp, I throw my apron and gather the last tips from the family table and the man with the hat. I grab it and thank them as I leave, I wave bye to my boss and walk out.
As I walk, I have a wave of relief wash over me. I get into my hired driver from the agency and watch him drive away. We make a bit of small talk as we finally get to our destination, we part ways as I get out. I turn and look at the house, I'm staying in. It's Leon's. He convinced me to move in with him, after that incident he always felt worried for me.
As I walk in, I felt his scent take over me. I smirk, knowing he's happy I'm living with him. I then see Winter run towards me. I pet him all over and see him run to our couch, I see a black figure. I quickly turn on the light only to see one of Leon's jackets laying on the couch. I get sad and walk over grabbing the jacket and hugging it.
I place it down and hope his scent stays for a few more days. I get up and decide to quickly take a shower and change into a night gown. I lay down onto our bed, turning over and wishing he was here. I close my eyes thinking about him, feeling my chest get tight. As I fall asleep I open my eyes, I sit up and look over the side of the bed. I see Piers on top of the blankets, crossing his legs on one another. He clasps his hands together, I quickly turn to him surprised.
(Y/N)- "P-Piers?" As I say his name, he turns and smiles to me. When he smiles, I feel like this is only a dream. I feel a tear go down my cheek, making him wipe it away. "How...are you here with me?"
He shrugs and turns to face me fully, still smiling and happy.
