chapter four: recipe for disaster

I HAD MANAGED TO DO two things within thirty minutes.

Firstly, create a scene in front of Mr. Auburn

Secondly, make it obvious that I didn't have a good grade in front of my partner

And thirdly, yeah that said partner was none other than Jamie Dunn

Actually that's three things. Oops.

The sound of someone clearing their throat broke me out of my thoughts as I turned to see Jamie with his hands in his pockets now looking at me waiting for a response.

He seemed more so calm and patient than the usual frustrated.

"Oh, I'm sorry did you wanna sit?" I asked trying to sound like I knew what I was doing.

I thought he said something but my mind came out blank.

"I was just saying it might be a better idea to sit because we only have a week to complete the project and I wanna get a headstart," he smirked pointing his thumb out behind him where our desks were.

Huh. I thought he'd be upset or annoyed with me by he smirked and had almost a slight laugh which I guess was good sign.

The last thing that needed to happen was to be on Jamie's bad sign since, from what I heard, he could practically end my social career.

"Yea I guess you're right," I said lightly making sure to pick up two of the instruction sheets from Mr. Auburn's desk before walking off.

When I made it to my seat I was sure to hand Jamie a paper, too. But what I didn't expect was a 'thank you' from his side.

I had heard that he was mainly just bad news all around. You know? The bad boy cliche but he didn't seem to be doing anything right now that confirmed that.

At least not in front of me.

"This looks like it could be fun," Jamie commented.

I snapped away from my thoughts and looked to see he was reading the instructions that I handed him.

The instructions said we were to make a unique carnival food that could be served at our school's annual fair that took place in the parking lot of the school.

That's where everyone pretty much hung out after school since it was within walking distance and gave a really nice view of the streets and buildings that were farther away from it.

Our school made sure to put down some park benches in front the school and an open area for us to just chill at years and years ago.

I think that they also did it so they could have events like the annual fair that people would be lining up to attend.
