I woke up that morning feeling drained. I had school so I didn't waste time. I did the basic morning rituals then went down the stairs for breakfast. Malik was sitting beside the kitchen counter eating his breakfast. I was to upset to say anything to him.

"Morning Dad." I said with no emotions.

I had to greet him, He was my Dad.

"Morning ." He replied, shocked that I even spoke to him.

"Umm, Tahiry can we talk." He added.

"S-ure." I said back to him.

I was interested in what he had to say after the night we've all had.

We walked to the sitting room, away from Malik who probably didn't notice we were gone.

"Hun." My Dad began with.

"I didn't finish what I started yesterday."

He took a long and slow pause.

"So please don't interrupt."

"After I took the gun Aman needed payment, but I didn't have up to the amount he wanted so he said he is coming for you as payment."

"Me, why will Aman want me." I said with an irritated look."

"I don't know." He answer me.

I just walked out of the sitting room. I turned back to look at my Dad and I could see both guilt and disappointment in his eyes.

Knock, Knock.

It was Ayanna.

"Hey girl, can we go now, I don't wanna be late." she said.

"Its only 6:20, we get to school way to early." I complained trying to force a smile.

"Malik let's go, Dad I will talk to you later."I shouted as I grabbed my stuff, excluding my Dad's phone.

As we approached the car I couldn't help but think about what my Dad has told me. Everywhere was filled with silence. Ayanna made sure I took the shortcut. We got to a police checkpoint and It was our turn.

There as a car in front of us had a white family in it and the police just let them go. I hoped they let us go without wasting our time.

I rolled down the glass.

"Can I have your drivers license and paper." One of the officers said.

Malik reached to the back seat and ...

"Get down from the vehicle."

*Wait, what? these people are crazy. He was literally trying to get the car insurance from the back seat. It was to early in the morning to get killed so let it slide.*
We got down from the car, well I and Malik. Ayanna reluctantly opened the back door.

It was still kinda dark so I couldn't see well.

"Where are your papers." the same officer said.

"Their in the car." Malik called out.

"Drop the attitude kid." The second officer with the gun said.

I reached into the car instead and gave the officer all the papers I had.

"They are valid." One of them whispered to the other.

"You can go." They said in unison.

We all slammed the doors and I continued driving.

"I don't know who these officers think they are but they are driving me crazy." Ayanna spoke with irritation.

"That's what you get love. Hate in the world." Malik responded sarcastically.

"These officers are shitting me right now." Ayanna said.

No one said a word.

I and Malik never really talked, well 'ghetto'. Mum hated it when we tried. We were raised to speak 'proper english' because ma was really educated unlike Dad. But I think speaking like Ayanna is calm.

                                                 ********************************************

We arrived at school. I decided to check if the cafe was still locked.

*I will give Jinan a call as soon as I get home.*

Jinan was a really nice guy that owned the cafe. His parents were filthy.💰

School was alright. The same annoying teachers and people. It was about 4pm and I was waiting for Malik. He had extra classes. I didn't know why. Ayanna had already gone home with Derek.

I was still a little angry at Malik but decided to let it go. What had happened had happened, I being angry at him can't change anything. As long as Aman doesn't kill or come after us again, I'm fine,

About 40 minutes later I spotted Malik walking towards me. It was quite dark because of the heavy rain earlier.

"Malik, what took you so long." I scolded.

"Calm, I had extra classes for the ones I had skipped." He told me.

"By the way, Josh said the normal route is packed so let's take down below." He added.

I was about to ask how Josh knew but I didn't.

"There might be more traffic there though." I replied.

" Let's just take it." He responded.

Without a word I started the car and zoomed off.

I don't know how Malik knew but i decided to listen to him.
