I had an idea for an oc! I wanted her to have a host but I decided not to put her in here. She is based off of a barn owl because I love barn owls and I was reading stuff about them, facts and symbolism in dreams and the like, and they are perfect demon material! (No offense, barn owls of the world.) Have you ever heard a barn owl screech?? I will put a video but headphone users beware - it is terrifying and super loud. So here she is - Salem the Owl Demon!
Name: Salem (She chose this name for herself. If she ever had an actual "human" name she's long since forgotten it.)
Age: Unknown, around 2000 years old. She's old, even for a demon.
Physical age: Appears to be in her mid-20s.
Gender: Female
Nickname(s): Owl Demon, Banshee, and the Thousand Yard demon to name a few. She's made quite a reputation for herself over the years.
Weaknesses: Churches and all the standard stuff (although she's unhindered by salt rings), and the bells she is forced to wear on her ankles and wrists because it keeps her from sneaking up on people. She is also considerably weaker and less deadly/energetic in the daytime, though she is not harmed by the sunlight.
Hideout: She moves around a lot but generally likes to find heavily wooded areas with few people to rest.
Magic: She doesn't have much magic actually, besides the power to turn herself into a barn owl and limited mind reading/telepathy. Oh yeah, and she can do the barn owl screech. Not magical, but still terrifying.
Eye color: Amber, darkens to near-black when she gets angry or ready to use her magic.
Personality: Wise, independent, cold and emotionally stingy, very quiet and sneaky, can be arrogant and prideful at times, very smart and quick-thinking. Although you may often question her loyalty, she never goes back on a promise and will always fulfill any deals she's made. She does low-key have a soft spot for abandoned children and animals, as well as humans with small children, and has been known to spare and even benefit pregnant women who see her. This may be a result of her forgotten past. She may not immediately come across as a particularly powerful demon as she lacks the.. ahem... blood lust that some acquire along their journey, but I assure you she can stand among the higher rank demons as an equal.
Appearance: Long, dark brown hair, amber-brown eyes, actually pretty tall - around 5'8, pale skin, large, powerful barn owl wings on her back, and from the knee down her legs look more like bird legs, complete with 3 long, sharp talons on each foot. (if you know what a harpy is, it's like that but her wings are separate from her arms.) Needless to say, she never wears shoes. She can mask her appearance to look more human, but rarely does. She usually wears a black cloak down to her knees that goes over her arms with slits for her wings.
Misc. Facts (you don't need to read these lol):
She is called the Thousand Yard demon from her uncanny, creepy stare.
She doesn't need to eat food, just human souls, but she does need to sleep from time to time.
She has heightened senses of hearing and sight, and is able to see perfectly in complete darkness. But her sense of taste/smell is almost non-existant.
She is able to, like an owl, move and fly in complete silence. But the bells were put on her by a powerful angel to hinder her ability to sneak up on her prey, humans. She is unable to take them off.
Twice a year she molts her feathers and can't fly. During this time she is very weak and on high alert. This is the optimal time to try and kill her.
