Deandre's funeral was somber and heavy. Deedra sat in the front row with a blank expression on her face. Denver sat on her lap wiping her tears when he'd catch them. Tay and his camp sat on the right side of the church behind Deedra. Dre's camp sat on the left side with some of his high school friends and shit. Deedra felt like melting into the floor. This was all her fault really. She hated herself the past couple of months and probably would forever. The pastor began the service with a prayer and some generic ass "words of encouragement". Deedra sighed loudly, making the whole church look in her direction. Tay placed his hand on her shoulder, "Cool out baby.." She shook out of Tay's grip and slouched down into the pew some more. The pastor finished his words and opened it up for anybody who wanted to say their final words to Dre.  A couple of his boys from his set got up, "Aye man. We sorry for real. If we was there, it'd be a couple more funerals today." They made points to look towards Tay and them. Deedra rolled her eyes and got up. She walked to the front of the church and grabbed the mic from them, "Look. My brother dead. Don't get up here wit y'all bullshit..for real. Everybody in this muhfucka know Dre wasn't the best of the best but he was my brother. Tread lightly wit what y'all say." She threw the mic to the floor as the feedback from it screeched through the speakers in the church. Dre's camp nodded their heads, picked the mic back up, said they loved Dre and sat down. They didn't take their eyes off the right side of the church the duration of the funeral though. A couple more people got up and shared memories they had with Dre and then the service was over.

Six of his closest homeboys, walked towards the front of the church, opened his casket for final views and then picked him up.  As they moved through the church, Bloodshed by YFN Lucci, Dre's favorite artist, started playing. Deedra watched as the church cleared out and just stopped in the middle of the church crying. Denver stood right by her side, "Daddy go outside. I stay with Mommy." Tay scoffed and followed his son's orders, "Ayi Ayi Captain. I'm sorry baby", he turned to Deedra and kissed her forehead. Once he walked out, Denver turned towards Deedra, "Mommy, Uncle Dre gone gone? I miss him." Deedra cracked a smile, "Even though he took you Den?" Denver's face instantly scrunched up. "Took me? No.." "Yes baby. Member Mommy had to get you from his house? And you ran to Uncle Black?" "Ohhhhhhh! You kill him mommy?" Dee felt like she'd been gut punched; this boy is too smart for his own good. She chuckled, "no baby. I didn't kill him. And stop saying that please." "Okay! Daddy kill him?" "Denver," she was cracking up now, "No boy. Why you so nosey?" She ruffled his hair and picked him up so they could leave the church. "Daddy! Mommy not kill Uncle Dre!" Tay cut his eyes at Dee looking confused, "Ummm I know that son. Why you say that?" "She told me. He jus die Daddy?" "Something like that lil man." Denver jumped out Deedra's arms and ran to Dre's camp. "HIIIII! You see my Uncle Dre? Daddy say he just die. Okay, BYEEEE!" King scooped Denver up before he could run and talk to anybody else. "Batman, what we tell you about bothering people today?" Denver thought for a second, "..ummm No?" "Right, dont. People sad today man." Denver lost his smile and then started bawling. "I MISS UNCLE DREEEEE!!!" Tay shook his head and signaled for everybody to get in their respective cars to head to the cemetery. In the family limo, Deedra sat beside Tay-the closest she'd been to him since the shooting. He pulled her closer to him as she cried in his chest. "I'm really sorry baby. I thought I was doing right" he whispered in her ear. Her chest started heaving as they drove past his house and started approaching the cemetery. "FUCK DEANDRE!!" She'd been doing that a lot; having random outbursts. Denver started laughing, "FUCK DRE!!!" He was cracking himself up. "Heyyy! No sir! Watch your mouth!" Black was trying to stifle a laugh and discipline Denver. "FUUUUCCCCK UNCLE DRE!" Deedra cut her eyes at him, "Enough Denver!" "Why?" "Because I said so. Sit down and cut it out." "WHYYYY??" He was laying on the floor of the limo kicking the air, "Denver Zahir! Please, not right now." "But I miss him tooooooooo! I sad!" He was now rolling around the floor of the limo like he had literal ants in his pants. Everybody just passed glances and let him show out.
