Let me start my story with an introduction, my name is Rose Johnson and I am 15 years old. I live with my uncle and auntie as my Mum and Dad died when I was 5 years old

I don't have many memories of my mum or dad and the only way I can remember how they look is with the photo of them all together.

The most beautiful thing about her is her eyes. The most striking green that you'll see. I have inherited everything about her except her eyes, the best bit!

The earliest memory of her was when my ever so kind uncle (note the sarcasm) came for a meal and there was an argument. The adults were arguing about whether women should be able to vote. The suffragettes had been created by a women named Emmeline Pankhurst. My mother was what my uncle would call a strong women and my father was OK with this but my uncle did not share this point of view. His wife my auntie practically never said a word and if she did it was yes John or of course John. I have to say I share my Mum's point of view, I'd certainly say women have to have votes as we still work and pay taxes too. At the moment I'm in school studying for a job. My uncle wants to get me married off any get rid of me. My younger sister petal is quieter and uncle loves her. He won't marry her off, probably keep her as a maid!

We're often reminded by him how lucky we are to of been taken in by him and not left on the street and taken into the poorhouse. Lucky me!

Anyway a few months ago I was out at the market getting some tomatoes for Uncle when I heard shouting "votes for women" and I pushed through the crowd to see what was happening. There was a protest march for the suffragettes. I had been told time and time again that the suffragettes were spawn of the devil, and that women didn't deserve the votes if they were going to act like this. However much uncle told us it was wrong I had to agree with everything the suffragettes fought for. And this is where my troubles began.
