There was a light beeping noise ringing in my ear, groaning in pain I opened my eyes before wincing them and covering them for protection against the bright white walls and lights.
"H-hello?" I croaked out looking to my left to see a slightly open door. Nobody responded, nobody was even in my room.
Moving up on the hospital bed, I reached over to a small bedside table on my right and grabbed a small paper cup filled with water. "Wonder how that got there..." I thought to myself before drinking it's contents.
I slowly sat up and swung my legs over the side of my bed, before standing up. I wobbles slight and went to reach for the metal pole that should usually hold my IV bag, but then I noticed there wasn't one there, "that's weird..." I whispered to myself.
Walking out into the hospital hallway, a nurse rushed past me, I reached out for her, but she just kept going as if she hadn't even seen me. I slowly walked to the front desk where an older women was sitting typing away on her computer.
"Um ma'am?" I whispered softly trying to get her attention, and when she didn't respond I tapped the bell on the counter, but it didn't ring, I tried again and watched my finger simply go through it.
I screamed loudly and slipped landing on my butt before scrambling back towards the wall, "what the hell?".
I quickly walked back to my room and closed the door before hearing a voice, "hey beautiful..." Dean.
"Oh thank God..." I said not turning around from the door quite yet. "Dea-" my words were instantly cut off when I turned to face him but saw him holding the hand of a girl. It was me, but terribly mangled, cuts a bruises everywhere and probably a few broken bones.
"You gonna wake up today?" He asked my body. "We sure do miss you... The highschool decided they're gonna put off the graduation until you're up and running again."
I frowned and walked towards him, going to place my hand on his shoulder, but thought better of it and didn't. "Dean? What do you mean? I-im right here..." I said quietly. The hairs raised on the back of his neck and goosebumps abrupted down his arms.
"Little chilly in here..." He said mostly to himself, "let me go fix that real quick." He smiled down at my body and turned around before walking right through me. Literally.
My eyes widened and I looked down at my hands finally realizing what was happening. "Th-this has to be a dream..."
He walked right back through me and sat back down before taking my body's hand back into his, "that guy who hit you got into some big trouble, he might even go to prison for awhile." He said.
"I-i got hit?" I mumbled staring down at my body. It finally all clicked and I remembered. Dean, Megan, truck, and lights out...
"I'm sorry baby..." His eyes teared up and my angry expression fell, "she just showed up and was on me, i-i tried to push her off but she wouldn't move..."
One single tear slipped down his cheek, I wanted to reach out and wipe it away, but I couldn't.
Suddenly I heard a loud, "hello?!" It was a woman's voice, I looked at Dean one more time before rushing down the hall towards the scream.
"Why won't you listen to me!?" She yelled in the face of a nurse how just passed her by.
"Hello? Are you ok?" I walked towards her. She was short, Asian, had big brown eyes, and shoulder length dark brown hair.
She turned towards me, "y-you can see me?" She had a small smile growing on her face, "oh thank God... I'm Tessa." She breathed out stepping towards me, "what the hell is going on?"
I shook my head and looked around, "I-i think we might be ghosts..." I whispered out for the first time, "but I'm not dead.... Are you?" She shook her head no, and walked over to an open door right behind us.
"That's me... Not dead though, appendicitis surgery gone wrong..." She whispered staring at her body and a woman I assumed was her mother.
I looked around again and started walking back to my room and she followed. "That's me and my-" what even was he at this point? "M-my friend... Dean." She walked into the room and I followed closely behind.
We stood at the end of my bed while Dean sat in a chair still holding my hand but now watching the TV in the corner of the room, "what happened?" She asked quietly, taking in my bruised and broken body.
"Got hit by a truck I guess...." I said before biting my lip and looking down, I looked over at her, but she wasn't there.
I walked over to the open door of my room and leaned out looking both ways but she wasn't there, "Tessa?" I shouted out, but no response.
I shrugged my shoulders and turned back to look at my bed, seeing a ghostly woman floating above my body. My jaw dropped and I screamed. It lowered itself ignoring me standing there and placed it's long boney fingers on either side of my face before opening it's mouth and breathing in.
I suddenly felt weaker, but quickly ran over and fanned my hands in the air, "Hey! Leave me alone!" I shouted at it, it screamed loudly making me cover my ears and bend over slightly.
When I opened my eyes, it was gone. "What the hell...?"
