A/N: I've had this in my draft for two weeks now, sorry for only posting now :>
------
Hello! I am back with another k-drama I just finished watching a while ago. Just like in my previous review, I will try my best to not give away spoiler for those who haven't watch this drama yet (tho it was aired on 2017). CAUTION: read at your own risk.
Chief Kim or Good Manager (English title) is a KBS2 20-episode Comedy-Romance Korean drama aired on January 25-March 30, 2017. It was written by Park Jae-Bum and directed by Lee Jae-Hoon and Choi Yoon-Suk. It was starred by NamGung Min (because I'm still affected by his acting on Doctor Prisoner), Nam Sang-Mi and 2PM's Lee Joon-Ho. With veteran actors I recognized, Kim Won-Hae and Lee Il-Hwa.
PLOT
Kim Sung-Ryong (NamGung Min) used to manage money for gangs, but by an accidental opportunity, he begins to works as the chief of an accounting department for TQ Company. He struggles to save the decaying TQ Company, fighting against corruption and irrationality in the company. [(c) AsianWiki]
That's it, that's what the whole Chief Kim drama is all about. Lead character saw chances to change for the best, helps people, changed people whilst fighting for injustice. The difference from all the same concept I watched is probably the way it was very comical, from beginning up to the end. It wasn't classified as crime despite having fighting for corruption in the screenplay but its still the same but 89% in comical. You won't probably understand what I'm saying since I'm trying hard not to drop anything here but yes, I'm approving that you watch this drama. Stop reading now. Go on, watch the drama (lol).
To further the review, if you like funny kdrama or a chill one at that, I say this is the kdrama for you. Not only did they do well with scripts but the roles were played well by the artists.
With the romance though, hmm, THERE is a romance. But very light among the lead characters but it exists with the other roles. Though, I don't really prioritize romance when picking drama but it's a shame, romance would fit well in the story line and won't look forced. However, its not wrong to focus on other things and also, bromance did the job.
Lastly, they did drag some scenes a little bit in the middle but they live and rose again so it ended well. Naturally and not too rushed.
CAST
As I mentioned, they did well with the casting. Most of them portrayed their roles very efficiently.
The veteran actors I watched so much did the role exceptionally. No question there. There are few more others but I will only drop two for your reference.
