62: Dunham Massey was Hometo the earls of Warrington this Altrincham house has tales both personal andpolitical. The house was built by George booth who was the second earl ofWarrington. Rather than start from scratch, he rebuilt it on the foundations ofthe original house. Years later William Grey 9th earl of Warringtonhired an exterior and an interior architect their names were Joseph Compton Halland Percy Macqouid. Both earls knew how to use interiors and architecture toarticulate there place in history without destroying the intimacy of therefamily home.

61: At the corner of inge street and hurst street in Birmingham stands the back to backhouses. These houses were built for working class families during the 19thand 20th centuries. There were 20,000 of these back to back courtsin Birmingham they were cheap to build and cheap to live in. they were also overcrowded,badly maintained and the sanitation was poor. Court 15 was restored by thenational trust to tell the lives of the family that once lived there.
