Chapter 4: Partners

Draco's POV
"There will no foolish wand waving or silly incantations...." Snape started out but I tuned out not caring much since I will get an A since Snape is the head of my house. He was also close to my family which will help when I have problems with his class.
"Psst...Draco," Loren whispered.
"Huh," I said returning to the real world.
"Open your book or Snape is going to get you in trouble," she whispered
"Okay I got it, thanks," I replied flipping through the pages in my book. I looked behind me after I opened my book and saw Potter glaring at me. Why? Yeah sure he hates me but I haven't done anything to him...yet at least. He shouldn't look at me like that he should know better after all I'm Draco Malfoy, and my father will hear about this.
"Draco, what are you looking at?" Loren asked.
"Oh nothing," I respond turning back around to face her, "Hey Loren, I was wondering if we could be partners for this class from now on?"
"Is that okay with you Pansy?" Loren asks.
"Yeah that's fine Millicent wanted to be my partner anyway," Pansy smiled.
"Well I guess we are partners now," Loren said, "that might not last very long though, you'll get annoyed with having a commoner as a partner"
"Oh I'm the one going to get annoyed, what about being a partner with a 'snobby' rich wizard," I teased.
"Well you might be right about that," she laughed.
"Is my teaching disrupting your conversation Draco and Loren?" Snape snapped at us.
"No sir," we replied simultaneously and with that we kept silent for the rest of class.
Soon enough the bell rang everyone rushed to pack their things and get out of the dreaded Potions class.
"Okay I have an idea Loren and I know it is going to sound stupid," I said.
"Okay..." she responded hesitantly.
"Most classes we aren't allowed to talk during lessons right?" She nodded in response. "What if we could talk without having to talk?"
"How?" She asked.
"We could trace the word or sentence on each other's arms instead, or find a spell to talk through each other's minds when we want to talk."
"Well I say we find a spell, because we might not always be able to use our hands like if we are making potions or aren't near each other," she pointed out.
"That's true well we have a free period so why don't we go research in the library?" I said.
"Okay that works," she said as she started toward the library.

3rd Person POV

The pair of 1st years entered the library and went to see Madam Pince before starting the search for the spell.
"How can I help you?" Madam Pince asked.
"We are looking to do research on different types of spells and wondering where we could find books on them at." Loren responded.
"Alright well we have defensive spell books in the 5th row of shelves, prank spells in the 7th row of shelves, protection spells in the 2nd row of shelves, and any other spells in the 9th row of shelves." Madam Pince informed the two before sending them on their way.
"Thank you Madam Pince," Draco said over his shoulder as they walked toward the 9th row of shelves.
"What do you think it would be under?" Draco questioned.
"It's a spell to see thoughts so maybe like advanced spells, because we also have to cast it non-verbally," Loren answered looking for books on spells.
They found a bunch of different books on advanced spells but they couldn't find any spells on seeing other people's thoughts or anything similar to that. Until they found a book called, "Hardest Spells in Wizard History." It was called A Legilimency Spell, but it wasn't exactly what they were looking for because you couldn't choose what thoughts to let them see. Loren decided to take it to her great-great grandpapi to see if he could help her tweak it to Draco and hers needs. They still have half an hour until their next class so they part ways and she goes to see Albus Dumbledore.
