*Four years later, Nikki's POV*
"Sophie, wait up!"
I ran after my young cousin, who was now ten. This was how we spent most of our days: running around the hotel, trying to keep out of Donna's hair.
That's right, I moved to Greece. When I went to visit Donna in high school, she offered me a room and a at her hotel as soon as I graduated. So, the day after graduation, I got on a plane and went straight to Greece. The Party was devastated, obviously, but they always knew I would leave Hawkins.
"You're so slow, Nikki!" Sophie giggled at me as we reached my little house on the hill. She was pretty, like her mom. Much prettier than me. Her long, blonde hair shone like gold in the bright Grecian sunlight, and her laugh was like the twinkling of a wind chime. She was my best friend here.
Well, second best friend.
"Dustin, lift me up!"
Yep. Guess who followed me to Greece?
Dustin lifted the small girl to reach an orange on the tree. "There ya go, kiddo."
I smiled at him, loving how good he was with her. "Hey, Soph, do you want to go inside and grab a scrunchie so I can put your hair up?"
Sophie nodded excitedly, running into the house to find what I'd asked for.
"Can you believe we're here?" I asked Dustin, twirling around excitedly. "This place is absolute paradise."
"It's like something out of a fairy tale."
"Yeah. I slayed the dragon and brought the court jester to my happily ever after."
He rolled his eyes at me, kissing my forehead. "You're so weird."
"But you love me."
"Yes. I do."
I rolled my eyes this time. "Have we heard from anyone?" Yes, the Party still kept contact. And yes, Mike and El are still together. So are Max and Lucas, but Will and Sarah both moved on to new people. Remember Holly, Liam's little sister? Well, turns out she and Sarah had a ton in common (including being newly-discovered lesbians) and are now girlfriends. Will's bi and very non-committal, so he's had a few different significant others the past few years. Nancy never moved on from Jonathan, but is dedicating her life to taking care of their babies. Steve became wingman to Robin, his coworker at Scoops Ahoy! and now the video store, and they're both hoping to fly out to Greece in the spring to meet the beautiful Greek girls.
"Yes, actually."
I smacked Dustin's arm. "And you didn't tell me?"
"Nope," he replied. "But yeah. Got a letter from Will yesterday."
"Yeah?"
"The twins are getting ready for preschool."
"Oh my God!" I squealed. "I feel so old. It seems like just yesterday we were all bringing them home from the hospital."
"Seems like just yesterday that we were just kids trying to figure out where we belonged in the world."
I laughed. "I mean, I still don't know where I belong in the world."
"I do."
"Yeah? Where?"
Dustin our his arm around me, smiling as Sophie ran back outside. "Right here with you. My invisible girl."
I smiled at the nickname, pulling him closer. Standing there, watching my cousin run up to us both, I felt so at peace. I wasn't invisible. Not to the people who really mattered. And I never would be again.
A/N: Aaaand that's a wrap on Invisible! I hope you guys enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing. Also, I hope you all know that this is TOTALLY based off of what I saw happening, not what the writers saw happening.
Who knows? Maybe I'll write a new fic once ST3 comes out and I've binged it all. (I have work on July 4 and can't watch it until the day after ugh.) Anyway, thanks again for your love and support, and I'll hopefully see you all in the next story ❤️
