Stephen and Rose entered through the stone door to be greeted with an almost completely obliterated temple that looked ancient. The temple was giant and seems to has been here for thousands of years, with moss growing on the walls and a language Stephen couldn't understand. It didn't even seem to have very much significance at all. After leaving the temple, they entered a small town and proceeded to walk down a dirt path looking for an inn. It was a pretty small town, so it was pretty easy finding an inn. The inn looked pretty run-down seeing how there was moss growing on the wood of the structure but then again, Betiko has been fighting a neverending war.
Everybody was so surprised when they saw Stephen. They kept asking him questions like:
"Are you new here? How did you wake up? You're not planning on going to The Tower, are you? Is Rose with you? Why aren't you asleep in a cave or somthin'?".
Stephen tried to answer the questions they asked, but he didn't know how to answer them. Rose didn't speak a single word to them. They weren't human, there was no way they were human, every one of them looked so alien to Stephen. The two slept in the inn that night. Stephen didn't sleep a wink that night though. Too many thoughts to process and too many new faces.
After getting up, they immediately left. Rose didn't speak very much after meeting Stephen. From then on it was just silence and exploration. This peace and quiet is exactly what Stephen needed right now. It was a change of scene from everyday life for our hero. Stephen had started to grow more used to Betiko and had even seen some sights with Rose. Decomposing skeletons littered the beaten ground, acting as soil as they return to the ground from whence they came from. It was getting cloudy so Rose and Stephen decided not to take their chances of running into bad weather, but there were no houses or huts in sight.
"Hey, there's a forest over there. maybe that can shelter us from the rain."
"And what's gonna stop you from getting blown away in the forest though? Remember, you're only a sweater, so there's no way you aren't getting blown away and if you get soaked, you'll be all damp for who knows how long as well."
After Rose mentioned this, Stephen came up with an idea, "What if you hang me up on a branch and we just set up camp in the forest?". Rose agreed to that idea, so they went to the forest. It was pretty boring having nothing to do except wait on a tree branch for Stephen, so he found this as an opportunity to get to know Rose better. He started with an interesting topic,
"Rose, do you believe in ghosts?"
"Yeah" Rose's tone of voice made it sound like seeing ghosts were normal, "I've encountered ghosts before actually. In the mood for a story?"
"Sure."
"Well then get comfy on your tree branch and brace yourself. So it all happened one night when I was strolling through the big city... and I still don't know if it was an illusion or not... But I saw a girl in all white, pale skin EVERYTHING WHITE!! Hollowed out eyes too, and she was just staring at me! I went to walk away but she just following me, and when I went to ran away for some reason my position just kept getting reset too! It was so freaky and weird!".
"Naaah, that didn't happen, right e-even I know that's not how it works! That's the typical ghost story I hear all the time! H-how'd you get out of there then??" Rose ignored Stephen's question.
"Hey Stephen, what's that over there? It looks like it's in all white, should I go investigate it?" in a shaky voice, Stephen replied
"N-no, don't! I-I-I know you're just trying to s-scare me!"
"Nope! Not to scare you! I'm being dead serious. Wait a minute... What if... That thing... was the ghost??"
It was soon later to be found out by Stephen that it was nothing and the whole story was made up to scare Stephen before bed. The rain started coming down and hit against the petals. Soon enough it was lights out for the two. Peace and quiet
