"Thanks for the ride." I said as Dylan pulled into the parking lot at the apartment complex.
"No problem." he said, switching his car off, "I'll drop you off at the door."
"No it's fine. I got it." I hopped out and from his trunk, grabbed my dress bag. I didn't want to put Dylan at more of a inconvenience.
"What kind of a guy would I be if I didn't help a lady up to her door?" he said, taking the dress bag from me. I glanced up at him, narrowing my eyes. "I know I'm an arrogant asshole but if I don't do this, I'd be just a piece of scum. It's common manners."
It was already night by the time the appointment was over. The lamppost Dylan had parked against illuminated my vision on him and I was able to appreciate again how handsome he looked, no matter what lighting. His lips were curled in a wide grin and his hair played with the summer breeze.
"Fine. It's not like I can convince you otherwise anyway." I mumbled.
"Oh you're learning." he said. We entered the elevator and a young teenage couple quickly hopped in right before the door was closing. I noticed Dylan pull out a pair of sunglasses and slide them on his face.
"Have a good day." they said, heading off on the 8th floor. I nodded in greeting.
"Scared someone will recognize you?"
He shrugged sheepishly. I didn't realize I was smiling at him until the ping of the elevator interrupted. I rummaged through my bag for my keys but found that I didn't have them on me.
"Fuck." I said, taking out a few belongings, hoping they were somewhere hidden at the bottom of my bag.
"No keys?"
"Left them." I knocked my fist on the door, hoping Tessie was inside.
"You have a roommate?"
"She's a childhood friend. Works as a makeup artist."
"Oh fancy."
The door swung open and Tessie stuck her head out.
"Jeez, did you leave your keys again..." she trailed off and glanced at Dylan, "A friend?"
"Just an Uber driver." I joked. Her eyebrows knit together in confusion.
"What-"
Dylan laughed and slid his sunglasses into his hair.
"Nice to meet you... your name?"
Tessie was staring in shock.
"Tessie." I said for her.
"Tessie." he repeated. Tessie was blushing. I haven't seen her like that before. Maybe I should take a video for Will.
"You're-"
"I'm just an Uber driver." he said, putting a finger to his lips before winking. Tessie had turned bright red.
"I- I'm just going to go inside. I'll leave the door open for you, Hazel."
I waited until Tessie closed the door to raise my eyebrows at Dylan.
"Really? Was that necessary?"
"Was what necessary?" he smiled. I understood why Tessie got so flustered now. His smile was dazzling, to say the least.
"Nothing. You know what you're-" At that moment, my phone decided to ring. Andrew was calling. "Fuck." I hung up without answering. Why does he keep trying to contact me? I wanted to throw my phone at the wall. I unlocked it to block his number when suddenly, it was snatched away from me.
