AU/Background info: Lance is a prince and Keith is a highly wanted thief. Medieval era.

~•••~

As the clock struck midnight, the raven haired thief pulled on his mask, covering the lower half of his face. He nimbly made his way to the huge castle that had been built many generations before. Sticking to the shadows, he approached the long wall that protected the castle. Eight feet high and made of stone bricks, it surrounded the large building.

Tonight, Keith's mission was to retrieve some very famous pieces of jewelry that he knew the dealers would want. Shiro had assigned him as the one to get them as Keith was highly skilled. Gold enchased ruby earrings from the Queen as well as her fine diamond and sapphire necklace she adored. Then the King's golden ring with jewels. These items were extremely valuable and the shady dealers they sold it to would give them a very pretty price. The stakes were high but Keith and his brother, Shiro, desperately needed the money. Keith carefully scaled the left side of the wall, the one nearest to the King and Queens room. When he finally got over, he took his rope and hid behind one of the many garden bushes around the castle. Night guards walked by, talking to themselves and oblivious to the fact that Keith was there. As they turned the corner, the male ran up the the building's wall. Pulling out a map of the castle, he zeroed in on the room. It seemed that the fourth floor was where the room was located. Pulling out his grappling hook from his bag that was slung over his shoulders and back, he aimed for what he thought was the fourth window. Shooting the metal hook up, it latched onto the bottom of the window sill. Keith sighed and held it tightly, planting his feet against the wall.

"Well,... here goes nothing."

Pulling himself up slowly, he reached the window. It was pretty high up and he wanted to get this over quickly, his fear of heights not exactly helping at the moment. Breaking the hinges of the window, the raven haired boy opened it up and swiftly swung himself in.

A huge, majestic room lay before him and stared in awe. A huge four poster bed with silk drapes and a gold and silver frame. Two people lay inside, peacefully sleeping. The Queen and King. Keith's heart was rapidly beating, adrenaline rushing in his veins. He nervously wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead and tip toed to the other side of the room. Being in the grand palace made his quest seem more real and exciting. Heart racing, he lit a torch he brought with him. Entering a walk in closet with lots of different clothes, Keith approached a drawer. He remembered some merchant guy, who claimed he once worked in the palace, said that the Queen kept her jewelry in a blue painted drawer with gold encasings. He opened the first compartment to find many colorful earrings that shone in the fire light. Gold and ruby earrings were small but beautiful in his gloved hand as Keith put them safely away in his pouch. As soon as he found the other necklace and the King's ring, he left the closet. The moon shone through the open window as he looked at it and then back at the door. He was in a magnificent castle, it wouldn't hurt to look around, would it? Curiosity got the best of him as he quietly walked to the door. He cringed as the door hinges creaked but was thankful as no one woke up.

The grand palace was larger than it looked from the outside. Even in the dark, the marbled floor shone and the walls seemed alive with great paintings and decorations. He passed by a few doors and looked around. It was so quiet and empty, giving the giant place a mysterious and haunted vibe. Keith walked up to a blue painted door. Golden leaves and vines painted the frame.

Possibly another royal?, Keith thought, ...a few more stolen jewelry wouldn't hurt.
