It's not long before Bakugo gets irritated. At what, I have no idea. His neutral expression twists into a scowl and his walk stiffens. I ignore it and carry on walking as usual in semi-cat form in case Shinso happens to spot us somewhere. But from what I've seen, he lives in a different part of the city and takes a whole different route.
My ears twitch and I notice the strange sensation of being watched. I frown and turn to Bakugo, but he's not the one staring at me. Strange... I curl my tail around one of my legs and draw my claws out nervously, letting them scrape against the bag strap.
We walk for a few more minutes in awkward silence. I still feel like I'm being watched, but I ignore it. I uncurl my tail from my leg and let it flick left and right as I walk.
I'm tempted to start humming the song that's been stuck in my head, but I don't think I want to annoy Bakugo... that seems like a bad idea.
Kaboom. I imagine a tiny cartoonish Bakugo blowing up the video game screen I'm thinking of.
...I don't think that's how I want to die.
"Cat," Bakugo mumbles and I turn to him and frown.
"What?" Is he talking to me?
Bakugo points towards a narrow alleyway and I stop to look. Sure enough, near the wall is a tiny, soaked, grey kitten.
Oh. My. Gosh. That is literally the cutest thing... I have ever seen.
I want one.
"Huh," I say before quickly walking over to the trembling kitten. Bakugo stays quiet while I kneel down to pet it. It flinches and I draw back, not wanting to scare the kitten.
"I need it," I say to no one in particular.
"What?" Bakugo frowns and walks over to me, kneeling down in front of the cat.
"I need it," I repeat, already gently picking it up and standing up slowly. The kitten buries it's head in my arm and I die of cuteness. This is too much. I can't.
Bakugo sighs and follows me as I carry on walking, trying to keep the kitten as warm as possible by covering it with my arms and holding it close.
Dadzawa won't mind, will he? Doesn't matter. I'm keeping it, whether he likes it or not. I'll have to put up 'found' posters though, just in case someone lost it or it ran away. Maybe it was abandoned. I don't know yet. Why do I feel like I'm talking to myself... this needs to stop. I scowl and shake my head. Stop it.
Ugh.
"So you're gonna keep that thing?" Bakugo asks from behind me.
"Yip," I nod. "But I'll have to make sure it doesn't belong to anyone first."
"Do you even know how to look after a cat?"
I roll my eyes. "I can become a cat at will. I'm pretty sure I can handle taking care of one."
"Tch."
*Time Skip*
"How do you wash a cat?" I hold the kitten in both my hands, examining it.
We're in Dadzawa's/my house, and Bakugo insisted on staying with me to make sure I didn't accidentally kill the kitten.
Bakugo smirks. "I knew you wouldn't be able to do it."
"Shut up," I mumble. "I probably need to buy some things."
"You just got home. I'll get them," he snaps before storming out the front door.
I blink. Uh... okay then...
"Wha- Hey!" I flinch as the kitten squirms out of my arms and leaps on to my shoulder. Out of instinct I flinch and try and grab it, but it jumps on my head. Are you kidding me?
I grab it and set it down on the floor. "No. Bad."
Ignoring me, the kitten turns around and walks off, exploring. I huff and wait impatiently for Bakugo to come back with the stuff.
I turn to look at the kitten, only to find it sitting on top of a black patch on the usually grey couches. I blink as I notice yellow lightning flickering around the kitten's fur.
What. The. Literal. Hell.
It sneezes and the lightning sparks again, blackening the patch underneath the cat again.
I frown. That's... not normal.
The kitten jumps off the couch and leaps onto the mat, curling up there.
"Back," Bakugo grumbles before dumping a whole bunch of stuff right next to the door.
"The cat exploded."
"WHAT?"
"No no no not literally, it just started sparking. Look at what it did to the couch!" I point towards the charred spot and Bakugo frowns and looks over at it.
"The hell?"
"I know, right!"
Bakugo scowls and walks over to the kitten on the mat. "So it's got a quirk, like that damn Pikachu's one."
"Kaminari?" I laugh. I pull out my phone and dial Nezu. After all, he is also an animal with a quirk. He might know what to do about this.
"Principal Nezu?"
"What is it, (Y/a)?"
"I think I need your help..."
A/n: Sorry for the terrible chapter. I feel like this is a little too basic... there will definitely be more action in the next chapters.
Please leave suggestions for the kitten's name. It's getting tiring writing it out but I don't want to make you unhappy by choosing a terrible name 😂. It's an American shorthair kitten, if you were wondering, but you can change it if you want.
Anyway.
