Cody...Just Cody...

I blankly stare at the nice gowns displayed in front of the tailoring store. A black one that came with a veil and gloves stood out to me, it was beautiful but it had a depressing vibe to it. It's like something an old lady would wear to a funeral.

"Cat, Snap out of it! Junior year just started. You're like a year too early to be excited for prom night." Cody snapped at me as he grabbed my wrist to pull me inside.

"Oh no...I was thinking of something much more important, like my funeral..." I depressingly deadpanned.

"Oh none sense, how could something like that be more important than prom night?" I shot him a glare, snapping me out of my dark thoughts.

"Isn't it like a year too early to be excited for that?" I repeated what he said in the same tone he used to talk to me about prom.

"Yes, and it's also too early for you to think about your funeral." He sighs. "Honey, I'm sure your slap is nothing to him. He can probably compare your slap with a fly landing on his cheek."

I rolled my eyes at his attempt to comfort me. "I'm sure a fly landing on his cheek wouldn't cause a red slap mark, Cody. He's human."

"Still not something he'd kill you for. He's not King Joffrey, Cat, and even if he is, it's 2017. He can't execute you." Looks like he's putting more effort in his attempt but I'm sorry to say it's not working.

"No...he's more like the Hound...or Mount actually..."

"Except he's not. He'd be stupid to try harming you in any way. It's stupid to mess with a Thompson."

I smiled a bit and thought optimistically for once. "You have a point." Except he kinda already did mess with a Thompson.

The tailor came out of the stock room with the two cheer squad uniform in hand. Cody asked me to come with him to check the uniforms since Amanda said she was too busy to have time for that. It was way too early to be preparing uniforms but knowing Cody, he takes the cheering squad very seriously. There's no doubt he'll be the next cheer leader.

"Thank you, Ma'am." Cody unraveled the female's uniform before us and gasped. "Oh my lord, Cat, this looks perfect!" It was a black and white sleeveless crop top with our team's name printed in bold black across the chest area and a wrist band with a similar design, paired with a black and white flowy mini skirt, a skirt too short for my taste but it's not really a bad thing, I guess. I'd expect that from Cody. The lady was silent as she went ahead to the stockroom while Cody was taking a picture of the uniforms. The male's uniform had a similar design except it hand a longer wrist band and surprisingly not fitted pants.

"Anyway, stop fantasizing your death. You still have like, a year or so ahead of you." Cody casually blurted out.

I furrowed my brows at him. "Excuse me?"

"It's only a matter of time until you turn 18. Only then can you cut ties with your Dad. Only then can Myer get his hands on you."

"I'm not gonna do that! God, you're the worst." What a way to distract me from my problems, by coming up with more problems.

"Not as worse as Jace, sweetheart."

"I wonder about that..." I mumbled so he wouldn't hear. I don't want to prolong this conversation...

"Thank you so much Ma'am. We'll be returning these tomorrow and we'll tell you if changes need to be done." Cody said to the lady handling the shop. She smiled at us and nodded her head as a response.

"Now then, Cat," Cody faced me and shoved the uniforms unto my chest. I gave him an annoyed and confused look. "You're gonna have to take these home. I don't know what my Dad would do if he saw these." I sighed as I took the uniforms anyway. "Amanda was supposed to be the one to take them home. Anyway, don't forget to bring this tomorrow m'kay?"
