Their eyes meet.

The dark green colours seems to swirl around his pupil. His eyebrows are pulled together slightly. Her chest rises and falls slowly. A heavy sigh comes from him as he pushes her forward, away from him. Her hands land into the sticky dirt, while her eyes stay glued to the ground, perplexed by his sudden behaviour.

"I won't kill your daughter with you watching, but do not mistake my mercy for backing down. My challenge still stands."

She looks up, shocked. My father's eyes shoot up to the sky before looking back at his rival.
"I accept the death match."

"I will fight for him," She shouts, getting up from the ground.
Corvi, who now stands before her father again, turns to look at her. She walks closer to him.

"I will take his place." Her voice is steady and her onyx eyes don't leave his.

Corvi waves his hand, "Hold her."
As her brain registers his words, someone gently starts to pull her away by her arm.

"No," She says, starting to struggle, "No, I'm taking his place. Let me take his place!"
The arms encircle her waist and lift her up, distancing her from the two Alphas. Davina turns her head and sees the Beta of herbown pack holding her back. Her worried eyes meet Davina's, pleading silently for Davina to just listen. The two Alphas shift and start circling each other while the crowd distances themselves to avoid confliction. Corvi's wolf pounds against her father's, both roll onto the ground.

"Gilda, please let me go," She mumbles, her eyes trained on the battle.
Her fingers fumble with her grip on Davina's waist, trying to pry her hands away. Her father shakes his attacker off and snaps his jaw. He bites down on his leg, drawing blood. Corvi lets his weight fall onto him, forcing him to release his bite. The wolves turn into a ball of fur, rolling around and snapping at each other, both biting down on anything. A yelp pierces the air. Davina's hands start to scratch Gilda's. Both Alphas come to a halt, her father limping away from Corvi. He growls lowly, not turning his back. In a flash, he approaches Corvi and runs into him. The slight limp in his run slows his movements. Corvi grabs the scruff of his neck and throws him sideways. Before her father is able to get up, Corvi opens his jaw by his neck. She squirms in the arms of the Beta, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.

A soft huff comes from her father, his eyes raised to meet the attacker. Corvi clamps his mouth shut around his throat. Blood leaks from the wound at a fast pace when Corvi raises his head and looks around, scanning the faces. She screams, scratching at Gilda's hands.

She finally releases her. Davina's feet come in contact with the ground again and she runs towards the still wolf on the field. Her body, running ahead of her legs, falls onto the ground. On hands and knees, She crawls the last steps to the body. A sob rakes through her body, her trembling hands, covered in dirt, clench in fists. Unsure of what to do, She grips the wolf's head.

"Dad," She sobs, her eyes desperately scanning over the jagged wound. "Dad, please," She squeaks, her thumb stroking his fur.

A painful feeling takes hold of her heart and She lowers her head next to his, feeling his fur stroke her cheek. Loud sobs start filling the air, shaking Davina's body. In the far distance, She hears people talking and shouting orders. Corvi's voice mixes in. The burning rage riles her up, clawing up through her throat and twitching her fingers.

"I love you, dad," She whispers, leaving one last kiss on his furry cheek, before anger forces her legs to stand up.

Immediately, his figure comes into sight. He has turned back into a human and is wearing jeans and a loose shirt. Her feet carry her towards him. His head turns to her, feeling her presence. Hot tears run down Davina's cheeks, her lips pulled back in anger.

"You," She snarls, reaching him, "you killed him."
She pulls her arm back and swings it unprofessionally towards his face. With easy, he takes hold of her wrist to stop it from hitting his face.

"It was a death match. He knew of the consequences."
His calm endeavour boils her insides. She grabs his shoulder, pulling him down, and lifts her knee. A huff notifies her that she's kneed him in the stomach. She pulls her knee up again, only for his hands to grab her and lift her on his shoulder, throwing her behind him. Something digs painfully into her back when she falls on the ground. She grunts and rolls onto her stomach, standing up swiftly. She throws a straight punch, but he avoids it. An agitated scream bubbles up in her throat.

"Stop fighting," he orders. Davina growls in response and lifts up her leg, pushing him backwards with force.
"Stop," he orders again.

She throws a straight punch again, knowing he will avoid it, and quickly follows it up with another one, which hits him square in the face. His eyes swirl dangerously as he grabs both of her wrists. She tugs on them, but to no avail.
"I don't need to listen to your pathetic orders," She growls, still struggling against his hold.

"I don't need to be a wolf to make you obey," he says harshly.

"You plan on killing me anyway. Why don't you just do it now, or are you too merciful?" She spits in disdain.

He lowers his voice, "Remember that I can now force you to shift."
His gaze burns into her. She lifts her chin up, glaring at him, silently daring him. He releases her and brushes past me, bumping into her shoulder.
"Come with me," he orders, not looking back.

She glances around, remembering the hidden bunker. Disobeying his command, She sprints across the field. Her mother. She needed to see if she is okay. The front door is already open and when she reaches the room downstairs, the wallpaper is stripped off of the wall, claw marks evident. They didn't find the room. She pulls the false wall away, her muscles straining. Knocking on the door, bustling is heard behind it.

"Open up, quickly please!" She shouts through it.

A few seconds later, the clicking of the locks is heard and the door is pulled open. She nods and slip inside, briskly making her way to the back of the room. A few people are gathered around her figure. When they hear Davina approaching, she's met with teary eyes.

"Her body couldn't handle the pain of his death," one elder woman speaks up.
Her long grey hair falls freely past her shoulders. She stands up and pulls Davina into a tight hug.
"She is with him now."

Tears threaten to spill again, but she forces them down. The woman pulls away from the hug and cups my face.

"Their leadership is now passed onto you, Davina."

Davina shakes her head and steps back. The woman's hands fall beside her figure, but her encouraging smile stays onto her lips.
"Though our wolves may be forced to obey him, our trust lies with you."

"Okay," She whispers, her voice hoarse, "I will prove I'm worthy of the title."

Heavy knocking demands the attention of everyone in the room. Davina looks sideways, to the doorway, and sees Corvi standing in front of it. His stare drifts across the room and stops at her figure.
"I need a word," is all he says.

She nods and walks across the room. They both leave the bunker and Davina takes the lead, entering the office of her father. His scent still filling the air heavily. Corvi closes the door behind him and goes to stand in the middle of the room. She doesn't sit down either. The air is thick and only the ticking sound of the clock indicates the passing time.

"My condolences," he says, with a short nod, "about your parents."

She scoffs, "take responsibility for your actions, don't act as if this isn't your doing."

He sighs, "Taking that you don't believe me, I'll move on from the subject. Why were you not executed once they discovered you are shiftless?"

She raises her head and says, "my pack does not execute innocent people."

"It is not your pack anymore. I defeated your Alpha and by doing that merged your former pack with mine. You are one of Romild now."

She slowly stalks towards him, blowing out a breath through gritted teeth. Her face is merely inches away from his, her tilted slightly up, when she speaks,

"Alpha Corvi, the MccRaeh pack will die only when my lineage does. So long as I am breathing, I am a wolf of MccRaeh."
