Her face is merely inches away from his, hers tilted slightly up, when she speaks."Alpha Corvi, the MccRaeh pack will die only when my lineage does. So long as I am breathing, I am a wolf of MccRaeh."
His nostrils flaredas his green eyes bore into her, looking down. She held his stare, not steppingback and cowering.
He broke the silence, "Tonight, there will be a welcoming party where all new members will connect with the Romilds. You will participate."
A low threatening growl vibrates through her throat, but hedecides to ignore it.
"We have to start making our way to the mansion.""Your territory is at the border of mine."
"Yes, but you cannot shift so we have to travel by car, which takes longer."
He walks up to the door and opens it, beckoning Davina to follow him.She scoffs, swiftly walking to catch up and walk next to him. As they turn around a corner, she almost bumps into a taller male. She tilts her head quite a bit to see his face. Blond beach wavy hair sits atop of his head, sticking out on all sides. His eyes pass over her and immediately go to Corvi, whom he nods at curtly.
"Alpha, we have cleaned up all casualties and informed the new people, they seem compliant."Corvi nods and says, "Alwin, meet the daughter of MccRae."
Alwin's eyes now meet mine. His amber eyes stand out with his fair skin, although the bags underneath his eyes also are on full display. He stretches out his right hand for her to shake. She eyes it, before clasping her hand with his. As her eyes travel up his arms, she sees a faint pink mark start right above his elbow climb higher, disappearing underneath his shirt. The edges of the mark are not a straight line, but rather jagged, as if something took scoops and carved the mark, though she can't seethe end of it.
"I'm Alwin, though my Alpha just said that. It's a pleasure meeting you," he says, pulling her gaze back to his, as he stares at her as if searching for something. She blinks, not liking the constant stare.
"Davina," she says abruptly, "and I can't say the same about you, unfortunately."His eyes widen and Davina pulls her hand back. From the corner of her eyes, she sees Corvi glance at her, his lips slightly parted.
"I'm sorry if I offended you," Alwin says, his voice unsure as he tilts his head. His blond hair falls to the other side of his face, or most of it at least.
"You didn't necessarily. Your Alpha did."
A scoff from next to her makes her look at Corvi, though he isn't looking at her.
"Enough with the useless anger," Corvi says, before walking past both of them towards the front door.Alwin quietly ushers her to follow him. The front door opens smoothly, letting the last few sunrays of the day enter the home. On the clearing in front of the home, the MccRae members are standing together, some quietly talking, others facing the sky as their lips voice ghosts of their wishes. When they notice Corvi walking onto the grass, the chatter quiets down and heads turn towards him. Silently, Davina scoffs at their wolfs' already growing attachment.
"You will be escorted to your newtemporary homes. The warriors traveling with you will inform you of everything necessary to know, including the feast tonight. Escapees will be caught and undergo punishment, though I would prefer not to," Corvi explains.
His gaze flashes through the crowd. Though his back is towards her, she sees his head moving sideways. A shiver ripples through the air. The bodies in front of Corvislowly crouch own and some grunts come from the ground. The grass moves, as if a gust of wind just passed. A few snapping of bones fills the air.The soft ripple reaches Davina, punching her in the stomach. The air is pushed out ofher lungs while she doubles over, a simple grunt escaping her lips. Her stomach twists tightly. She opens her mouth, but only a pained whine comes out. Slowly sinking to her knees, her hands grip her abdomen. From afar, she hears Alwin's voice, but the words don't seem to translate in her ears. Another groan comes from her withering figure on the ground. She lays her forehead on the dry ground, while a burning sensations travels through her spine, pinching her neck and enclosing her throat.
