"Be careful with your words, Amaro. I am known to be dangerous."
Her words hang in the air like simmering mist, even when she brushes past him, disappearing inside.Walking through the front door, a figure standing right in front of her stops her. She sighs in relief when she meets Alwin's friendly smile. He notices her bare feet and shoots her a questioning gaze, but doesn't say anything. Neither does she.
Instead, he balances his weight on the ball of his feet and says, "you scared us quite a bit, you know, with the fight and all."
A hand rubs the back of his neck."Too bad I didn't reach his throat first," Davina remarks, shrugging.
"Do you even realize what danger you're putting yourself in? He is your Alpha, the person protecting you."
She scoffs, "submission does not equal protection. I am the rightful leader of MccRaeh, I won't let him take that away from me."
The front door opens, letting more light stream in.
"Don't bite the hand that feeds you, Davina," Alwin grumbles, brushing past her to formally greet the person behind her.
She doesn't turn around, biting her lip as his statement bounces around in her head. Amaro walks past her to the door in front of her, the one she eavesdropped.Turning slightly to look at her, he surprises her by asking, "would you care to join me?"
She raises an eyebrow.
"It'd be a bore."Hearing those words, it's Amaro's turn to raise an eyebrow at her excuse. Davina succumbs, not wanting to pass this form of entertainment.
"If I ruin any chance of your truce, don't point your finger at me," she says.He opens the door, a victory smile gracing his lips, and motions for her to enter first, and she does. In the middle of the room stands a dark round wooden table, with four matching chairs.
Moreno, upon seeing the door open, stands up. He wasn't expecting Davina to walk in together with the Alpha, as a sliver of surprise passes through his gaze.Amaro nods at Moreno, who returns it, before both Alpha's take their place opposite of each other. A formal, but strained greeting. Evidently, these Alpha's didn't meet because of any friendship. Davina takes a chair in the middle of them both, her gaze anywhere but at the table, unaware of the tension between the males and the ever so often glances at her.
The walls are decorated with pillars, carved from the same dark wood, reaching the ceiling. The windows, taller than twice her figure, let the natural light flood in. Beautiful navy curtains frame the glass, tied to the side to not dim the sun rays.
"If you don't mind me asking, Freitas, why did you invite Davina to our conversation?" Moreno asks, a hint of annoyance slicing his words short.
She eyes the two males, finally. A small smile appears on Amaro's lips, enhancing his dimples.
"I had hoped it would amuse her, take her mind off of some things."Moreno shakes his head, crossing his arms.
"Shall we continue," he proposes, though it doesn't sound like much of a question.Amaro nods, "Of course, we've covered the basics. Let's discuss Beste. I think this is something we can both agree on; Reinforcements at the coast, the both of us."
"They will see the fall of MccRaeh as an easy win of territory. Soon they'll want to bleed out to the mainland," Moreno says, nodding at Amaro's proposition.
Davina shoots a glare at Moreno.
"The MccRaeh wolves on the other side of the sea will not just succumb to Beste," she states, "My father gave them a lot of independence, they were practically a separate pack but with close ties.""This will buy us some more time to cover the coast," Moreno says, leaning back in his chair.
Her mouth falls open.
"Are you not going to help them?"
