The Palace

After days of riding in the carriage, we finally reach the capital, Earlier this morning I was able to get ready and dress nicely as this was the day I would be arriving at the Palace. I was very nervous, So I decided I would wear one of the nice dresses Chien made for me. I wanted to open that tiny box too, but I couldn't not until I was there. "Mss. Xien, the palace is right up ahead if you'd like to get a glimpse." Said my driver, HIs name was Wei, he was very nice. I looked out as it was sunset, and the palace was lit up with red and gold lanterns. It was truly Beautiful. I've heard that the first night, they send over 1,000+ Girls home because they fail the first test which is tonight. We first get settled in our rooms and then make our way to the halls for an introduction. The Carriage slowed to a halt, and there were many more behind me, and in front. They were unloading 3 carriages at a time, each had their own maid that carried their stuff to their rooms. Finally, I was one of the 3, and I was helped out, I held my cat tightly, I saw the maid struggle to get all of my things because of the money I had brought along. "Her miss, I can help you," I said as I bowed. She looked shocked and whispered, "No miss you musn't I can do it by myself." She said in a huff as she hurried. "Excuse me, guard, Can we have an extra hand real quick she is having some trouble and I don't want her to get hurt," I said to a guard as I bowed to him he whistled and two more maids came rushing down and helped her, she looked over at me, her face not showing any sign of gratefulness, but her eyes showed it deeply. I was told to follow them and was suddenly stopped by a guard "no pets in the palace" He said sternly. I bowed before speaking "But sir, isn't there any way I could keep him, she's been in our family for years." I said in a sad pitiful tone. He turned over to an old man holding a plank of wood writing down some notes. "As long as the cat is tamed I see no harm miss." He said in a smile. I bowed and thanked him as we continued on, my cherry blossom pink dress with sky blue accents was so airy and light. I loved it, and the neckline was low enough to show off my necklace. I loved this dress, it made my waist look smaller than it was and was shining in the light. There were at least 8 flights of stairs to get to the entrance, ad 2 more to get to my room. It took a total of 1 hour to get to my room. My room was gorgeous an actual bed, a balcony facing a forest of bamboo and mountains. The moon was rising now and I was excited to see what will be happening. Suddenly a knock on my door. I walk over to open it and a maid walked in with a set of green tea. "Hello, miss Xein I am Yuma I'll be your maid from here on out" she smiled sweetly. I bowed and said "Hello Yuma, I appreciate you here for me," I said giving a warm smile. She smiled back and quickly handed me a cup of tea, but quickly fell at my feet getting my shoes wet. "Oh my god, miss Xien I am so sorry!" She said as she frantically went to go clean up my shoes as she bowed at my feet. I sat there shocked, a little irritated, but I couldn't let my mother and family down. "Yuma.." I placed a hand on her back "It's quite alright, I can understand how stressed one could be. But don't worry mistakes are human nature." I said warmly, she stood up with shock on her face, and hugged me tightly, Yuma almost in tears was giving thanks over and over again. She pulled away, and this time, slowly gave me the tea. "Please Yuma if you have time, sit with me and we can bond," I said to her. Again in shock, she complied. As we sat down together we talked about our past, and experiences and how Yuma shared funny stories about working here and such. "Miss Xien.." I cut her off, "Please here Yuma, you can call me Mae, I don't mind." Yuma nodded her head. "Mae the entrance ceremony starts in one hour. I will help you get ready, and pick an appropriate dress because it is better to be towards the front." Yuma stated which seemed pretty smart to me. We got up and started to get ready for The entrance ceremony.
