I woke up, still on my couch. I looked around, no Ben. I had been cuddling with the blanket he was in last night. I let it go and looked around, the glasses of wine still there with the bottle. A note on Ben’s. I picked it up.

Hello love, you fell asleep before me and I felt bad waking you up so I stayed, I woke up early and I’m leaving now. I missed you so much, we have to see each other again, soon. I missed this, just me and you just like old times, right? Well, I’m going to go now because all my shuffling is disturbing your sleep. Goodbye my love, here my number. Call or text me when you wake up. xoxo, Ben.

P.S. You still talk in your sleep love.

I smiled at the note. I got up from the couch and headed to my room. I grabbed a small shoe box from my closet, it was labeled ‘Ben’. I opened it, familiar sights before me. Bracelets that he had given me, cards, letters, even some valentines cards from elementary school. I kept them all. I put the note in there, writing down the number in my phone before closing the box.

The last part of the note still rung in my head. ‘You still talk in your sleep love’. What had I said? I bit my lip, hopefully nothing embarrassing. I texted him, telling him I was up. I had a text from my mum.

‘I’ve filled your credit card again. 30,000 dollars. Don’t tell your father’ she said,

I smiled, my mum had been slightly supportive of me moving out. I guess she just wanted to make-sure I was okay. I took a quick shower, washing all the hair spray from my hair. I got out, changed into white shorts with black tights under neither. These were my favorite tights, flower patters made from the string itself. It was see-through. I loved them. I put on my ‘Pierce the Veil’ white tank top, and my white Vans. I grabbed my wallet and headed out.

I walked to the supermarket, it was only three blocks away. I picked up only essentials, things to make enough food for one person for a week. I didn’t eat much, mostly vegetables and fruit. I checked out all the items and headed back out. The walk back was a bit harder, carrying two bags of groceries is harder then it seems. I finally got to my apartment, someone was sitting outside the door. Two people. I slowly walked forward, not knowing who they were.

As I got closer, I recognized the face.

“Danny?” I asked.

He looked up, “Jade!”

The other figure, also looked up. Ben.

“Hey” He said.

“What are you guys doing here?” I asked.

“This isn’t a bad time, is it?” Ben said.

“No! Of course not! I just wish you would have called or texted or something.” I said, “to warn me. I would have made tea or something.”

“Its fine, you don’t need to attend us.” Danny said.

“Well, still.” I said. Ben and Danny helped me with the bags, I opened the door letting them in.  They placeed the things on the table, and I began putting them away. The boys went to the lving room, and settled in. I looked at the time. It read one in the afternoon. I took a deep breath and grabbed some snacks. I headed back to the living room, the boys were sitting on the couches.

“You’ve got a lovely home” Danny said,

“Thank you” I said.

“You’ve changed quite a bit since high school. You used to never wear shorts.” danny commented.

“I know.” I said, “You guys have changed too.”

“Yeah, Danny got fatter.” Ben said.
