My phone buzzing at my side woke me up the next morning. I lifted my head up off the pillow, my eyes still closed. I searched for my phone, feeling all around me. Finally, I found it. I didn’t even check to see who it was, I just answered.
“Hello?” I asked.
“Hey” Ben said.
“Hi.” I said, “What time is it?”
“Six in the morning” He said.
“Beeen!” I moaned.
“Sorry for waking you love, I just have something to tell you.” Ben said.
“What is it?” I asked.
“We leave tomorrow for our America tour…” He said slowly.
I didn’t understand at first. I lay there, and let the words sink in. Then my heart gave a jolt, and I sat up, opening my eyes.
“What?” I said.
“Yeah..” Ben whispered.
“Oh… well… that’s good… more money and shit” I said.
“Darling, I’ve discussed this with the boys… and… we want you to come along.” He said.
I let the words sink in again,
“Me? On tour? With you guys? I won’t be a bother…” I asked.
“No, of course not! I mean there are eight bunks in the bus, five for us. One for our tour manager and another for the merch girl. We have an extra bunk, and if someone needs it…well, you can always just… come sleep with me in my bunk.” He said, “Or I can sleep on the couch…” he quickly added.
“Oh, wow. Um.” I said, of course I wanted to go! But what about my parents? “I have to discuss this with my mum…”
“Of course! You don’t have to say right away, I mean, we can wait. Until this afternoon. Just call me when you’ve got a solid answer?” He asked.
“Of course!” I said.
“Alright, goodbye love. Talk to you soon.”
“Bye” I said,
I hung up and sat there. Is this for real? I scrolled through my contacts until finally I got to my sister.
‘Whats mum doing today?’ I asked her.
Sure enough, she responded right away, even though she was supposed to be getting ready for school.
‘She’s got the day off, she’s going to the club house with dad. Why?’ she responded.
‘I have to ask her something, is she up right now?’ I asked.
‘Yes,’
‘Tell her I’m on my way.’
“Alright.’
I got up off the bed and headed of rmy closet. I put on my ‘Of Mice and Men’ Tank with some purple shorts. I put on my white Vans and looked in the mirror. Yesterday’s make-up was still on, I cleaned up a bit and brushed out the tangles in my hair. My hair was wavy, and long. It almost reached my butt. It was about time I went for a trim. I did my hair in a sideways, messy ponytail. It looked nice, the way my wavy hair flowed. I smiled at myself and headed to the door. I grabbed my car keys on the way out.
I went to the garages of the apartments, finding mine I opened it. My old black convertible waiting there. It had been so long since I used it. I climbed in, removing the hood and heading out. The drive was long, my mum lived out there, away from people in a big mansion. I hated it there. Away from everyone. People always thought I was the snobby rich girl, but I wasn’t. I hated money. It had completely possessed my parents.
I arrived at the gate and pulled up to the little speaking box. I entered the code, my code.
“Welcome, Jade” The security officer said to me, “It’s been a while.”
“I know” I said. She opened the gates for me, and I drove in. I pulled up to the front yard, the butler awaiting me.
“No thanks,” I said when he tried to take my keys, “I’ll only be a minute.”
He nodded and walked up with me, opening the door for me.
“Mum!” I shouted as soon as I stepped in.
“Honey, don’t shout. I’m in the kitchen.”
I frowned. Memories flooding back in as I saw the familiar staircase I would always climb to my room. I turned, and headed for the kitchen.
“Hey mum, I need to talk to you about something.” I said.
“Yes? What is it.” she said, as she watched the maids cook.
“Remember Ben and Danny?” I asked.
“The two lovely gentlemen from dinner? Of course. How could I forget?”
“Well, remember they spoke about going to the united states for touring purposes?” I asked, biting my lip nervously.
“Yes.” She said again.
“Well… they’ve invited me.” I said.
My mum stopped what she was doing and looked up at me. I tried putting the most pleading face I could.
“And?” she asked.
“Well…” I said, “I would like to go…”
“Oh.” She said. She grabbed her cup of tea and headed for the table, I followed her. She sat down and played with the tea. Turning her spoon one direction then the next.
“Well?” I asked.
“Going to another country is a big deal honey…” She said, “It’s not just all fun and games. You need to establish a bank account over there, get a credit card, so I can send you money from here… its all just one big mess”
“So? I’ll work it out!” I said.
“I don’t know…”
“Mum! Please! This is my opportunity to get away form here, away from this city, away from these people.” I said, my voice shaking a bit. She knew how much it meant to me to get the hell out of this town.
“Fine, but let me make some calls and try to make your bank account today, before you leave. I’ll transfer your money from one bank account to another, so you’ll have a good amount to start on. Every week I’ll send you money, if you need it.” She said.
“Oh mum! Thank you so much!” I said, I moved over to her side and hugged her.
“Yeah, yeah. Now go! You need to pack, and make sure you pack everything you need!” She said.
“I will mum!” I said. I went back to my car, nearly skipping the whole way. I picked up my phone and dialed ben’s number.
“Hello?” He said.
“My mum said yes! I’m going to go home and pack now!”
“Alright! That’s good! I’ll tell the guys! I can’t wait! This is the first tour that I’m actually looking forward to!”
I laughed, “Alright, well I got to go pack and such. See you tomorrow?”
“Yes, be ready by eight a.m. sharp. I’m picking you up and were heading for the airport.
“Alright! Bye love”
“Bye!”
I smiled and turned my car on. I drove home, and when I got there I nearly ran into my house. I was so exited. This was a dream come true!
