Shadow's POV....
"People of of Azarian. Tomorrow is the celebration of our coming together. The celebration of Azarian. A place where we the many, and chosen were a given a second chance. Thanks to Sir Samuel Azarian, and the late Sir Eron Azarian. May Gid rest his soul." He said and everyone heads lowered repeating the phrase.
"May God rest his soul." I repeated. I closed my eyes feeling the tears form at my eyes. Only for them to vanish the next. Father hands held my shoulder and he smiled at me.
"Chin up daughter. He would want you to be happy." Father said and I nodded.
"Sir Samuel Azarian is paying us all a visit today. Everyone please show respect and welcome the man who has rescued us from the fires that was to condemn us all." Governess Pemberly said and there was cheers.
I wanted to walk out there but I was advised not to move. Instead I viewed from the window. Staring down at the crowds of people. I watched the speech. Looked at the crowds of people. Took in their response.
"Dear come sit down. Don't trouble yourself. You know your poor heart doesn't need a fright." Mother said and I obeyed. I took a seat. She ate a biscuit, while having her hair curled.
"When do you think technology will be available?" I asked.
"Oh I don't know. You will have to ask your father. They are still working on it as far as I know. You should go read your book dear. Don't you have an exam to work on." She asked and I nodded.
"Yes ma'am." I said getting up returning to my room.
On my way to my room I passed the long corridor. I found myself at my room. I opened the text book ans read the many pages. After an hour an tutor came in and quized me on my books.
"You will be ready. Your Father would be so proud." Gabriel said and I smiled.
"I am always well and prepared. When do you think I can start working in the hospital?" I asked.
"Well when the hospital finally opens and we get electricity I am sure Thomas could use a hand." He said. I smiled in hope.
"Oh I can't wait. That day will be amazing. I could see myself help perform surgeries. Do you think someone would need blood or an appendectomy?" I asked full of curiosity.
"Gabriel enough!" My Father said in a stern voice. Gabriel stood and lowered his head.
"I am sorry sir." He apologized.
"Father it is okay. We were studying." I said and Mother stood by my side and hushed me.
"You know she can't be a nurse. Her heart is in no condition to handle the stress. You will not have this conversation with her again. You are to tutor and get her prepared for the exam. That is it. Do your job or I can find someone else to do it." He said and Gabriel nodded apologizing again. He left the room and I moved away from my Mother. I was mad at her for not sticking up for Gabriel and I. But I was mostly mad at my Father.
"I know you are upset with us daughter but this is for the best." He said.
"You just took my only desire in this life away. To be a doctor. Just like my Mom. Grandfather always said you can't fear death. You must look it in the eye. You can't fear my death. Death is a current situation around here that we can't escape. This life offers nothing and this is all I have." I said getting so upset. I turned away and looked out the window and watched the soldiers training.
"I am sorry you feel that way but I must protect you." Father said before leaving.
"Honey try to see it his way. Losing you will be like losing our entire world." Mother said and left me be. I felt chest pain and rushed to door and a guard saw me. Pain was sketched all over my face.
