Chapter Three

Driving in the car was bumpy and quiet for the most part. I noted the relationship between the three strangers present in the car.

We reached a point ahead that had a sign of radiation. We stopped the car and everyone got out and out on their suits.

"Hey I am Wes, you are?" Wes said. He was just my height but shorter. He had short brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin.

"Shadow. Her name is Shadow." A guard said and I nodded.

"You are the girl that bumped into me." Another guy said and I looked at him. I nodded again. He fixed my scarf again. A guard pulled me away and helped me into my suit.

"He was just fixing my scarf Dex, chill." I smiled.

"You are our responsibility. We will return you back in one piece and I will not let some guy influence you into any trouble." He said. "Stay away from him."

"I will try." I smiled and he sighed. My helmet was placed onto my head and locked in. "This suit is hot."

"Well at least you will be breathing." Ren said.

We got in the car and drove again. My breath was caught within my throat. I saw the steam and broken buildings. Everything was so damaged and destroyed. We got out and I saw the woman stand next to me.

"The name is Leona." She said and I nodded. "Don't get into my way." She said walking away. I was taken back at her tone.

"What's your command Shadow?" A guard asked.

"Move out! Bring only useful things back." I yelled and two guards stood by my side as we looked through things.

It was extremely hot and the suits weren't helping. I pushed ruble out of my way. I came in contact with a skeleton and jumped back. Dex dropped what he had and helped me up.

"Are you okay?" He asked and I nodded.

"No! No! No no no!" One of the guys said. I looked over and I rushed over as I saw him hold his suit.

"Wes!" Leona shouted rushing towards him. I closed his suit and looked towards the guys.

"Hurry carry him to the car!" I yelled and the guards rushed and got him in the car. I got in the car after him. "Go work. I can help him." I said and shut the door behind me. I used a flashlight and looked at his suit open area. "We have no time to repair it. You are lucky there was no serious damage. Take your suit off. You can have mine." I said and he shook his head.

I smiled. "I will be fine." I said and helped him take it off. I opened the first aid kit and addressed his wound. I wrapped his arm up and got him bandaged. I helped him in his new suit and tightened his helmet. I opened the door and looked at him.

"Wait you can get hurt." Wes said but I shook my head. I helped him out.

"Are you sure you can get hurt." He said.

"Shadow get back in the car!" Dex yelled. I wasn't in a suit and I looked at my skin. Turn a vibrant red and blister. It healed and I felt much better.

"You can't be out here. It is dangerous." He said.

"I am fine. Lets just get the material we need. We can repair his old suit for me later. Right now we need to work." I said and he nodded. I was given gloves and dug through the rubble. We found some material that wasn't too damage and drove for hours until night time fell. We bunkered down in the car.

"How did you do it? Wes was only in the air for one second and burned. You....you are unaffected." Leona asked? Before the guard could answer I held my hand up.
