You sigh in relief as you pick up the rest of your scattered books. They went easy on you today.
They are the group of football players from your school. The ones who push you around and tease you. They get physical a lot, but for some reason they only knocked your books out of your hands and called you names today. Which isn't the worst that could've happened.
You knew the worst though. You've been through it.
When you finally make it outside to the front of the school, you find your boyfriend Noah in his usual spot, leaning against his car waiting for you.
You try to forget what happened a few minutes ago and put a smile on your face. "Hi."
Noah grins as he wraps his arms around your waist and kisses the top of your head. "Hey baby. School go okay?"
You nod. "Yeah, it was fine."
Little does he know it's hell.Noah is one year older than you, which means he's out of high school now that you're a senior. That's why he hasn't found out about the bullying. When it first started, you thought it was only a one time thing so you kept quiet. But then it kept happening, over and over again.
They know who Noah is and they know that you're his girlfriend. Which is why they threaten you to keep quiet about it.
Of course you trust Noah to keep you safe, but they intimidate you to a point where you'll do anything they tell you, including lying to your boyfriend.
When you guys finally make it to his apartment, where you usually go after school, you decide to start on your homework while Noah chills on the couch next to you, watching TV.
He slings his arm around the back of the couch behind you as you pull out your math work.
You're so distracted that you don't even notice that he's watching you, staring at the bruise on your cheek from yesterday. You covered it with make up but obviously it smudged off throughout the day without you realizing.
"Baby?" Noah's soft voice breaks you out of your working mode and you look at him with your eyebrows furrowed.
"Yeah?"
He reaches his hand out, making you flinch slightly. Luckily he doesn't seem to notice as he continues to rub at something on your face. "What's this?"
You're confused at first until you realize what he's talking about. "I-It's nothing. Someone hit me with a ball in gym class, i-i'm fine."
He narrows his eyes on you. "That's a pretty bad bruise, how'd a gym ball do that?"
You just shrug.
Noah shakes his head but doesn't question you any further, allowing you to relax a little.★
