Ugh!!

I officially hate un-packing. Like what part of stay do clothes not understand.

I've spent hours trying to place them neatly in my new wooden wardrobe. Okay I'll be honest maybe I'm over exaggerating on the "neatly" part by a little bit.

And the hours might have only been like 10min.

But still they should do what their told.

And give this broke ass child a break.

I wouldn't even be stuck in this mess if my mum didn't randomly decide to move from London all the way to California. Just because she wanted a change of scenery.

Like what in the fudge cakes was going through her mind.

I know what you guys are thinking, how come I didn't just say no. But you see am not ready to die yet and me doing that will just end me 6 feet under. I can already see it on the headline of a local newspaper.

17 year old Skylar Banks murdered for going against her mother. She never got to see KFC become a delivery. What a shame.

I was caught off my train of thought by my mum shouting my name for dinner.

Yay food!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Instead of running down the stairs in a hurry to eat, I found myself taking in the surroundings of my new house. The top landing leading to the stairs was completely bare, we had yet to decorate so it made the place feel a little less homely. Unlike at home in London, my old house was filled with pictures of friends and family and souvenirs of places I've visited with my mum.

I've only been in Cali for two days now and even though I want to run away back home, I can't. I need to stay for my mum and make an effort here.

Skipping down the last few steps with new sense of determination in myself, I caught a whiff of what could only be my favourite food on this planet.

"BBQ chicken chops with stir fry" at that moment I honestly felt like crying tears of joy. I just love food so much. "When did you have time to make all of this?"

"Yeah I thought of making it up to you by cooking your favourite food. Since you willing-" I abruptly interjected my mother.

"Forced. I was forced" I remind her.

"Willingly, forced. Pish Posh it's the same thing. So am I forgiven?" she asking with those pleading eyes of hers.

I can't believe she's actually pulling the food card on me. Well I guess that's what you get when your mum's Ty Banks. Renowned chef with beautiful brown olive skin inherited from Nigeria. And short black hair that rounds her face. I'd like to say I looked like my mother with me sharing the same hazel eyes and pink full lips.

But that's the only resemblance we have.

My skin is way lighter and my hair is a big frizzy mess.

Maybe I too more of my dads genes but I wouldn't know as I've never met him and my mum never even talks about him. Whenever I tried to ask questions about him, my mum will just brush it off or change the subject.

So I've learned to just drop it.

Suddenly someone started clicking their fingers in front of my face.

It was my mum

"Oh sorry what we're you saying?" I asked.

"Wow and you say I get carried away in my thoughts. Anyway you start college or do I say high school tomorrow." she sat down at the dinning table with me.

A groan left my mouth before I even realised. I honestly didn't want to go to school but I knew full well, there was no way of getting out of it.

After I finished my food which may I add was delicious. I swear who ever came up with the idea of food, I owe my life to.

As I dragged myself up the stairs to my room, I prayed that tomorrow may never come because if high schools are anything like in Mean Girls. I have no chance of surviving.

Erm so that's the first chapter of my book done.

What do you guys think of Skylar so far as a character?
