Anger laced each one of Temper's actions as she silently sneered at the unconscious leader of the Arch of Fire Pack. Her paws slick with blood, she padded towards the medic who was busily tending to the wounded dogs. Her teeth were bared in an insidious, grim, smile. The medic leapt to his paws as she caught sight of the large adolescent staring at him. "D-don't come any closer, code-breaker!" He warily screeched, large oval ears flattened to his head. "Who says I'm a code-breaker if I planned to eat one?" Temper retorted, eyes ablaze with hunger and ferocity.
The medic let out a shrill, birdlike noise and suddenly it felt like the whole population of wild dogs were honing in on Temper. She silently pleaded for the Great Mother to forgive her as she snatched the body of a young wild dog and turned tail, fleeing from the scene.
Half way back to Grudgepride, the young wild dog felt heavy in her jaws, not stiff like a carcass. She realized her mistake as she hesitated to listen for a pulse in her poor 'kill'. Taking a live young from its mother is in the code as a punishable offense! She thought, the adrenaline of the chase seeping away to be superseded with the pang of regret, grief, and determination. She began to turn tail, then remembered the hatred within the wild dog's eyes. "Code-breaker!" The words of their medic echoed in her mind as the pup stirred between her teeth. Hackles raised, she stood rigidly as the gleaming eyes of the pup met hers.
His round, deep-brown surrounded pupils couldn't compare to her slit pupils and amber eyes. It's like his throat turned into a bird as he sounded a warning call and kicked at the lioness. Temper gently put him down. "It's okay, young pup." she stated as calmly as she could. "How could it be okay if you attacked my dad, my pack, my friends and family!" The young pup squealed, preparing to call out once more. "I'm sorry. I can't control myself." Temper grumbled, scraping her claws against the now cool earth "My whole pride says I have 'anger issues'.". The pup sent her an icy glare, baring his teeth. "You can call it 'anger issues', but I'm going to call it code-breaker issues! You massacred an innocent pack of wild dogs, then stole a live young! The Great Mother will never forgive you," He growled, ears pinned back.
"There's a difference between anger and criminal, Lioness. Yet one is a reason to be exiled." He said as he turned tail. "Wait! Please come back.." Temper sniffled, swaying her tail at her haunches. The young dog sighed heavily then turned, meeting Temper's gaze. "What in the name of Sky and Stone do you want now, code-breaker?" He grumbled, splotched tail lashing angrily. "Just please, hear me out for a moment." She sighed, watching as the pup grew impatient. "I'm assuming your father is Arch of Fire, correct?" She asked, hoping he would be friendlier with her. ".... Yes. What are you hinting at?" Clouds in The Valley questioned, hackles rising.
"Do you want to be leader of the pack?" Temper asked, an idea forming in her head. "If you're asking if I want Arch dead, you're as crazy as a baboon, Lioness!" Clouds retorted, teeth glinting in the moonshine. "No, that's not what I meant." She replied hastily. "I've seen so many lions in my pride leave for a while, then come back and challenge our king. They usually win, too. I've been told, the secret to that is that they've been training with animals stronger than them, such as leopards. They must have lots of intellect, to convince one, though." She stated, her plan coming into play perfectly.
"So you're saying, if I train with you, I'll be strong enough to take over as leader?" He smiled, mostly uncertain. Temper nodded, proud of her plan. Plus, I can get a sweet ransom without him knowing! The Arch of Fire Pack is mine to control!
